Maaaaan even as a 37yo man, literally 25 years after first playing this game, having beaten all 4 scenarios on multiple occasions, that intro “RESIDENT EVIL TWOOOOO” still gives me the chills, just knowing what’s ahead. Plus, the music in this game is fucking i c o n i c.

Incredible video Kendo! It's amazing how after all these years I'm still learning new things about these old games. My favorite was the unused backgrounds, like the alternate door to the evidence room and the home in the wall, mostly because I love environmental storytelling.

I found the 'phantom gate' from the very first clip, way back when the game was first released. I played it to death and after completing all run throughs (including tofu and hunk) starting a new game and pressing x at a random moment, it just appeared. Thing is no one believed me when I said I found this alternative camera angle. Luckily years later KZfaq proved I didn't imagine it 🙂 Great video, subbed.

Only now do I notice that the dropping head scene is very similar to Kenneth's death scene in RE1: We see the head from the side when it drops down and seemingly looks normal, but then it tips over, turning into the direction of the camera, revealing half of the face is eaten away. Hardly coincidence, but a connecting nod between the two titles. Thanks for this video!

This was amazing. I always wondered what the licker looked like as it scurried by the window. To me it kibd of looked like a velociraptor because I assumed it was walking on its feet on the ground. Now I know it's actually a top view as it crawls on some unseen wall in the dark. That's a 25 year old mystery solved for me. Thanks. Really appreciate your hard work and sharing it with us.

In regards to the object at 1:13 the Licker transforms into, if I'm not mistaken, the "object" is the Licker's hip/pelvis. When it moves past the window, out of sight of the player character, it collapses all the arms, legs, and head into the pelvis, presumably to save memory as it no longer needs to be fully extended or shown.

An oversight with the licker in the interrogation room is that the licker wouldn't be able to see the character through the glass and it wouldn't hear her through the wall.

Something else is missing in all re2 1998 games : the fatal tongue attack of the licker you can trigger in the demo only. He can rip off your head just by using his tongue attached around your neck.

LOL! At the end with Brad as Mr. X. Great stuff btw; yeah the Beta version of RE2 had ALOT of different details. To be honest, I prefered the Beta, angles on the 2nd floor balcony than the wide shot we got in the final.

The licker didn't really transform into an object it was simply just it's painted on shadow that got left behind. This was used in a lot of older games as an illusion

1:12 that's probably the licker's hips. A 3D object was known for having many parts that moved in another part, because they could not afford too many poligons and bones.

To answer what the shape left behind after the licker passes the window. It's a place holder. Enemies have a count in the resident evil engine. The licker is an enemy that remains in the game even though you can't fight it. The shape I can't explain, placeholder cells arnt usually programmed to hold textures
