Wow I’m insanely impressed with these guys along with the world class level of coaching not just physically but his mental coaching and talk at the end of practice. That’s a hell of a coach. Much respect

I know it’s been a while since Metcalf retired from competing, but it feels strange to see Metcalf wearing an Iowa State shirt as opposed to Iowa

LOL 3 hawkeyes in the ISU dept. Dresser is a hawkeye as are Metcalf and St. john.

@@mikebetancourt6403 I’d disagree there. I grapple against some straight studs. What I love about BJJ is you can do more. BJJ made me a better problem solver and wrestling gave me a good work ethic.

Notice the coaches are. They are coaching the wrestlers, not drilling or wrestling with them. Well organized practice. A big emphasis is on offensive takedowns they are finishing takedowns coming up off of their knees. Great position work. Good coaching going on in this room.

And they are ranked along with Northern Iowa. Iowa wrestling is just amazing 3 programs ranked in the same sport is impressive

I was a high school wrestler, but since I didn't have the ability to be elite at the college level, I saw no reason to continue to torture myself with dietary restrictions and hellish workouts. I instead devoted my college years to surfing, girls, pot smoking, and rock n' roll. And I have no regrets about this.

@@hey12358y, Guys who work their asses off but are scrubs on college teams. Why bother when you don't even get to wrestle in meets? That was my POV, and why I didn't continue wrestling beyond high school. But, hey, I'm 71 now and still enjoy watching NCAA wrestling.

My bro science theory is that when they were in middle and early high school their testosterone all went into building muscle that’s why they don’t get that tall or deep of voices after their nuts drop

Yonger is Cuban but Afro-Hispanic along with the other commenters there is some good diversity in that wrestling room. But the funny thing is about wrestling is it is all about winning you could be purple does not matter the mat doesn’t discriminate.
