Victoria Barracks....no mistaking the close proximity of Heathrow......Guards at their very best....as we all expect. No comparison anywhere, and that’s a fact.

Those bearskins do make them look a bit scary if you ask me. But they are the best .
@medic76982 жыл бұрын
That was the idea of them, which is why Napoleon equipped his guards with them. Our Guards got them as a battle honour after Waterloo.

Thanks for posting from a different perspective. Enjoyed very much. Questions for some kind person. Why do no guards at the gate sometimes salute, and on other occasions not? Why do two guards run from the rear to the flank the officer in charge ? Thanks in anticipation. Regards from Cornwall
@ChangingGuard2 жыл бұрын
They salute when it is an officer entering or leaving and also when the Guard march in or out of the barracks. The two soldiers, normally NCO's, who double forward are the Captains Escort,

I was in Windsor yesterday and Victoria Barracks is currently home of the Coldstream Guards, were these guys visiting or is it an old video just uploaded.
@ChangingGuard2 жыл бұрын
It is still the home of the Coldstream Guards, When the Guard is drawn from another Regiment they are bussed to Victoria Barracks and step-off from there.

@@ChangingGuard Well I never. I have passed the Barracks 100's of times and look up to see who is stationed there. Then when they do the Changing of the Guard ceremony I naturally assumed it were the incumbents. Combermere if I recall have the Welsh Guards holed up at the moment. Thanks for the info, I will let the kids know when I am next in Windsor, which will be in a couple of weeks.

@@ChangingGuard When the wife was pregnant, I used to park up in Madera Walk to pick her up from work and I think it may have been the Irish Guards at the time and I could hear the band practicing. Thank you and the Regiments for the parades and more importantly keeping us all safe.

Amazing video man I wish I can go to Windsor man but I have a question what is the difference between warrant officer and dressing officer
@ChangingGuard2 жыл бұрын
The WO is the senior NCO. The NCO dressing the ranks is normally either a sergeant or lance sergeant. ( A Lance sergeant in the guards is the equivalent of a corporal in other regiments)

Do the Corps of Drums ever play "Bugle marches" or is it only ever "Fife marches"?
@bugler752 жыл бұрын
Generally in the Brigade of Guards the bugle is only used to sound duty calls. Bugle marches remain the preserve of the Rifles and the Royal Irish Regiment. All the best, Ian

It must hurt their feet with all that silly foot stamping.
@ChangingGuard2 жыл бұрын
No, they wear what are called ammunition boots that have studded soles which amplifies the sound and their drill instills discipline which, although that may seem old fashioned to some, is essential in any infantry unit.
