I have to agree, Tim Jeal is the real bastard of this episode.

He's also the guy who wrote the biography for Lord Bayden-Powell, the bastard behind the boyscouts. Those episodes were fucking doozies, ugh. But yeah Tim has a real infatuation with rehabilitating objectively awful white dudes from the victorian era, and either exusing or just glossing right over their monstrous deeds.

You still have so many people in the UK who were at least neutral on the idea of the empire, and they know about the atrocities, they just don't seem to really care. A part of me thinks the apathy is needed for their psyche, as they are in complete denial that they still benefit from colonialism, becuase if they acknowledge it they may have to give up their luxuries. You can see this the most in Bristol, which is a massive port city which is now all finance based, and you can sometimes forget how this port city got so wealthy until you go past the two major streets in the city, 'Whiteladies Road' and 'Black boy hill'.
