Beijing Subway Line 14 opened its first section by the end of year 2013. This section, also called the "West Section", was used to serve Beijing Garden Expo Festival in the south-west suburban area of Beijing, while connecting neighborhoods along the line. This section was starting from Xiju Station on Line 10. Then a year later, by the end of 2014, the line opened a separated section in the east, starting from Jintai Road all the way north to Shan'gezhuang, carrying passengers inbound from Wangjing District, and connecting major theme parks and shopping center. Another year later, by the end of 2015, the eastern section extended west from its southern end, forming a reversed "L" shape surrounding downtown Beijing, and connected Beijing South Railway Station and other major transportation terminals.
The middle section remained closed due to construction of Lize Business District Station, and disconnected the eastern and western section of Line 14 for about a decade. Finally, by the end of year 2021, all the remaining stations opened, and the entire Line 14 cut through.
Up till now, Line 14 has a giant "L" shape going from the southwest of Beijing to southeast, then northeast. It has a total length of 31.8 miles (50.8km), with 35 stations along. This line is operated by Beijing MTR, a company formed by Beijing Capital Investment Group and ‪@mtrhongkong‬ . Station announcements, alerts, and the door chiming are following the format of MTR Hong Kong as well.
There are currently 63 trains running on this line, consisted of two different models: train number 201-238, modeled DKZ53, were manufactured by CRRC Changchun (which also made the MBTA Orange Line trains); while train number 239-263, modeled SFM18, were manufactured by CRRC Qingdao Sifang (which also made the CTR Blue Line trains). These trains were made from 2012 to 2014, with a top speed of 56mph (90km/h). Each train is consisted with 6 A-Sized (large and wide) cars. Their full-black PS4-shaped front faces are oriented from the idea of giant bells in Chinese cultures.
This video was recorded through a missing peep hole, thanks to the information provided by a local rail fan. Indeed, as many operators love to slam the doors hard when entering and leaving, they could easily break peek holes and create "opportunities" for railfans.
