I am from ATL. For my white people, he is not lying. My first culture shock was back in like 2011 when I flew out to San Francisco to kick it with my fraternity bro. I was Literally the ONLY black person on my flights and BART was mostly white, even most of the few black folk I saw were lighter than me skin tone wise. It was just different. I didn’t experience any racism or any negativity, it was just my first official culture shock. I was in my 20’s back then…like he said, here in ATL we are definitely deep.
@larsedik Жыл бұрын
You should have taken the 22 Fillmore bus in San Francisco, although it might be different from when I lived there in the 1980s. There is also the 24 Divisadero bus between the Castro and Pacific Heights. I would often be the only white person on these buses between Haight St and Sutter. I went through culture shock going from San Francisco to Texas to visit my family.
@spiderpimp33 Жыл бұрын
@@larsedik Yes sir…I can believe it. I had mini-shock when I went to San Antonio a few years. Although it was a melting pot, never seen that many Mexican people all spread out throughout the city like that. In ATL, there are pockets…but when are in the city, it’s rare. In San Antonio, it was like their ATL. 🤣🤣🤣 I enjoyed it though.
@larsedik Жыл бұрын
@@spiderpimp33 I grew up near San Antonio, and my family used to go there for vacations. Most of the people there are not really Mexican - they have never migrated from Mexico to Texas but have always lived in Texas, which had Spanish settlers before American settlers. There was a large native population in the area, and so most of the people are really more native than Hispanic, and they do not identify as Mexican, but as Chicano instead.

I can see why you thought that but also don't be quick to generalize. I'm black- from NC and live in Seattle; no one ever assumes im Southern. We aren't a monolith. Portland hypocrisy at it's finest. I support BLM, I do, but I do it from like the back seat. And I am not a backseat driver, I just turn on my gameboy and tone everything out. I once saw a white man in a park telling a black veteran about the racism here. I had a lot of really good points though. LOL, jk. But the dude was serious, and he wouldn't let the veteran speak. So the vet, just took a seat in the back of the conversation and let him rant. I was so offended though I had to walk away. I went out and had a sign made that said Black Opinions Matter like right away.

Black Comedian Comedy --- 1) "White people...." 2) "Racism ...." 3) "The police...." 4) "________ Obama..." Black comedians are restricted in their jokes, apparently. No new material permitted, I guess.
@thehumancatalog Жыл бұрын
White comedians have been talking about dating, sex, having kids, their job or whatever mundane aspects of white culture they have wanted for all of time. Everyone just talks about their experience, and you may not know this but the black experience in America is heavily predicated on those things. If you’d like to hear no jokes, perhaps change your society so these issues are not common threads throughout the lives of most black people.
@thehumancatalog Жыл бұрын
Also please tell me a joke Steve
@stevelangstroth5833 Жыл бұрын
@@thehumancatalog "Everyone just talks about their experience, and you may not know this but the black experience in America is heavily predicated on those things." Nah, they're just copying the jokes other black comedians do. Eddie Griffen is the funniest black comedian with Dave Chapelle a close second. Eddie's jokes about a starving Ethiopean kid with a fly crawling across his eye makes poverty a starvation funny as hell. Only Eddie could pull that off. 😁
@thehumancatalog Жыл бұрын
@@stevelangstroth5833 if you think Eddie Griffin or Dave didn’t make a ton of jokes about white people and racism then you are being willfully ignorant. Your argument therefore is that you like their jokes about race better, which is fair, but don’t act like it makes any other comedian trying to make a point about race automatically unoriginal.

@@thehumancatalog Nah, they all copy Eddie and Dave. However, Eddie and Dave do a LOT of jokes on other material. Dave does jokes about transgenders and Eddie does jokes on lesbians.
