The People's Court

6 ай бұрын

The plaintiff, a hair salon owner, alleges the defendant bought the building she used and jacked up the rent. The plaintiff refused to sign a new lease and claims the defendant didn’t return the security deposit, so the plaintiff is suing. The defendant argues that the plaintiff left without notice, and he doesn’t owe her a dime.

She cashed her own check, so like the defendants said, no work had been done, did she really think she could get away with that HUGE lie. The defendant's son might be a lawyer, but he has a lot to learn about self-control, and he lied about sending her that letter, hence the reason it wasn't sent registered. Neither side came with clean hands...

No, its basic lawyer 101 stuff to get a certified letter for that type of comms, and the landlord cashed the $2300, which has effect in law as type of acceptance of the $2300 as the rent where theres a dispute of what the contract is. Lawyers are held to higher degree of proof, hence why JM had a go at the son over his actions of not providing a a certified record, and she didn't believe him.

All she needs is a P&L statement and Sales Forecasting showing her potential increase, she could have even sold the home she lives in and moved on the property and had a salon out on the other side.

I feel for the plaintiff. She built something for herself but she made the mistake of assuming nothing would ever change and made no preparations for when and if it did. The plaintiffs are jerks, clearly, but she handed them emotionally rather than legally.
