The People's Court

The plaintiff says the defendant is her uncle, who she says agreed to take over payments on a car in her name. She says he stopped paying after he took possession of the car, so she had to fork over the money and cover the storage. She’s suing for the money she’s owed. The defendant say the car was in poor condition, needed repairs, and was a month behind in payments, so he denies owing anything.

The car was for her ex boyfriend… they broke up so she did the right thing by asking someone else to take it over since it was in her name and they would be able to take over payment and own the car. She already had her own car and car note so she was being responsible.

Way too many broke people trying to ride around in expensive cars. Audis, BMWs, etc are EXPENSIVE cars to fix. If you can't scrape up $400 over two months for a repair, an Audi is not for you. And I'm someone who would love to own an Audi but just can't take on those repair costs.

This is why I got a bumper to bumper warranty on my BMW. I can afford the payments (most people probably can) but if something large were to malfunction like the transmission, I’m not sure id be able to pay $5k+ out of pocket on the spot. Work smarter not harder :)

My theory is: American cars are cheaper to repair, but they need repair much more often. Foreign cars are more expensive to repair, but they need it less often. So if you can afford the payment, go for it!

This is why I am a Toyota customer for life. The cars are super reliable and don't cost a grip to purchase or maintain. Just purchased a 2021 Toyota Highlander and couldn't be happier. My 1990 Toyota Corolla can now sit in the driveway and rest. I swear that little car is a superhero. Didn't change the oil or do any repairs for 5 years and it still kept going. Now I can enjoy my new baby girl for the next 30 years hopefully. 😍

i learned a lot from this show when it comes to loaning people things expecting to get paid back in full or monthly etc… all you have to do is say no. i recently got asked from one of my best friends to co sign on a car for her. with the situations i already knew she was in letting her insurance lapse, not paying for her car or registration… i’m sorry girl but… no. i rather keep our friendship❤️
@tysirrah
@tysirrah 2 жыл бұрын
I think I heard someone say one time that you should NEVER loan money to family or friends. Instead you should just give them what you can at the time with no expectation of getting it back. So if my friend asks me for a loan of $500, I'll just say "I can't loan you $500, but I'll give you $100 to keep, no need to pay me back." That way you keep the friendship and got to help them out too.

Rules I Live By (and have never let me down): 1. If I can't pay for a car with cash, I don't buy it. This includes knowing if parts are easily available and affordable. I buy used and do all of my own maintenance and mods. 2. Never sell a car to family or friends. 3. Never let anyone drive your vehicle. NOT EVER. FOR ANY REASON. 4. Never loan anyone money. And what do you know? I've never had to sue someone. My credit has never been ruined by someone else. None of my relationships have been ruined as a result of finances. It is really SO simple.

The defendant and I made the same face during the intro, the voice over using the term, 'Naughy to a niece', just gives off creep vibes! People need to stop driving the type of vehicles that cost an arm & leg to repair!

They both are wrong. She’s wrong because she couldn’t pay her car note anyway and this is the second person she had paying on this car. Yet he is also wrong due to all his actions with not paying at all and leaving the car there the whole time. Smh.

Or for trying to find an arrangement to get the car paid for! She didnt just give it back and shrug about the payments. The girl was being responsible with the car.

The tv court shows really pay. That's how they get people to come on but they are real cases. In real small claims court you can get a judgement but still may not get paid.

This whole case is a mess. She had a car for someone else on her credit and they stopped paying but also mentions her kids..... think about those kids and your credit next time BEFORE you put a car in your name for someone else. And that uncle is a piece of work with his no good friends. I hope they don't pay him back any storage fees. He was being shady and wanted them to charge her a lot of money. And all of a sudden he was going to pay for the car and pick it up that weekend 🤔🤦🏾‍♀️🙄😒
