The fact that their tow driver wasn't present AND they were very shady about why he wasn't there (never actually giving an answer), makes me think he may have been in jail which would have CRUSHED their defense. Surprised the judge didn't get a definitive answer from them

There is 0 doubt in my mind that they stole those peoples' money, especially after saying they charge 175.00 to remove property and then saying they didn't even try to collect that fee. The truth is, they didn't try to collect it because they'd already stolen their money. Also charging someone an unreasonable fee to collect their property is indeed unconstitutional.

When I was in my early 20s I lived across the street from a laundry mat where I dropped off my laundry every week to get done. One day, I took out $400 to give to my roommate for my share of the rent. I went home that night after stopping at the bank, gathered my clothes and took off what I had on, then dropped my laundry off. The next day I pick it up in the morning and that night my roommate asks me for the rent money. I then realized I never took it out of the pants I was wearing and it went into the laundry I dropped off. I tore the bag opened and found the pants but the money was gone. I went to the laundry mat and asked if they found it and of course they said no. I had no other way to prove otherwise so I was out $400. Sometimes, we as humans are careless and we get stuck in shitty scenarios. I believe they took the money cause they knew she couldn't prove it, but I would've cut my losses and moved on. It sucks but I know when I'm fighting an uphill battle in a downstream world.

This sickens me. I had my car towed once and the tow company stole my iPod. I called the police immediately. They refused to even entertain me even though I could prove my iPod was on the property. NY’s finest was most definitely in cahoots with the tow company. They treated me like I was the criminal. It’s so upsetting that these tow companies are allowed to get away with the things they do.

In fact, if you get back to your car in time but they already hooked it up, most of them will tell you something like "I'll drop your vehicle right now if you give me X amount of money." The defendants definitely took the money or someone working for them did. Notice that they never actually gave an answer as to why the person involved was not in court. She just glossed over the question and started describing what they do to clear the valuables. The fact that they charge 175 dollars to get the valuables back show their unscrupulous characters. They are basically crooks and would not think twice about stealing the 900 dollars. Such a shame that there was no proof. The male defendant was dodgy as well when he made the comment about 'you would be surprised what we find in there' and then was laughing at his own joke. They are in a situation where they are accused of stealing 900 dollars. It was completely out of place and inappropriate. Also in the exit interview where he was complaining about what they take out of the car. He should have been using that time to stress their innocence. But he knows they are not innocent and so he was deflecting.

(Key word: ANOTHER) And then when the camera goes back to the plaintiff you can hear the defendant laughing and saying "I can't believe you said that" and they continue to laugh. One driver was even watching me while I was sitting in my car. He took a picture of me with his camera as he drove by. I stayed in my car, but felt that was an invasion of my privacy. Where's that picture going? I should have called the police because I did nothing wrong. Plus my car was paid for! The manager didn't mind me parking on their lot at night because I frequent their establishment. It was safer than the place I needed to park because of the cameras and amount of people that visited that properly. I appreciated it and never took advantage of their kindness. My point? They stole her money. You'll reap what you sow.

I don't know if I heard wrong. But I thought she said she took the money out to pay something (maybe the carnote) and she stopped by her house to pick up her son, and that's when they repo'd the car.
