Yeah... I was totally blown away when I discovered Beirut. More specifically, Zach Condon is from Santa Fe, New Mexico. He did quite a few tours in France I think because they accepted his music more than the crappy "music" (if you can even call it that) industry in America.

Buckley' version was ordinary, this is the best version bar none. For this version I learned to play ukulele. It changed my life. Buckley's version I did not manage to listen whole in one go.

I was going to go put this on somebody's wall on Facebook when I found it, but I made the mistake of keeping the song playing when I did. All I know now is that I've somehow got tears in my eyes, the person didn't get the video and, in my blackout, I felt my mind bend back on itself. Wat.

@crazypineapples91 I'm neither being silly on purpose nor at all. Cohen wrote the song, and had his speak/singing version with a gospel choir version. Then John Cale did his arrangement. Every cover since then has owed more than a little to John Cale's arrangement.

Leonard Cohan has come out and actually asked people to stop recording versions of this song...think more so because people might end up hating the song as it would be overplayed. esp since it was ruined by Alexandra Burke on that bloody Pop Idol show....

And Beirut's version is soooooooo different. It's weird. Beirut and Leonard Cohen are two of my favorite bands/artist ever.

This one does look beiruty and not good though, but above all, Zach is a genius of our age, unfortunately I don't think people will get that after his death, because they think of everything as wine, the older, the better.
