Hi Greg, I dont think I will be buying another one, im hoping the kit of the Tuna fishing boat that My Daughter has bought me for christmas is old stock not this new rubbish that they are selling now

@@g-kip I have the Santa Anna from AL which is an old kit , much better quality and a couple of Caldercraft kits which have 8mm Keel and frames whi should be much better.

I use 2 simple aluminium angle pieces in a vise. My vise is mounted on a ballhead, so it will go anywhere except upside down.

@@g-kip Just an update on the Chinese pirate Junk from AMATI : It`s scale 1 : 100. The planking for the deck as well as the hull are 1x3 mm. After watching your caulking episode, I tried some, and came to the conclusion that painting, even a permanent marker were too fat to my taste. My solution: sand the deck planking so edges are a little rounded, then after gluing a plank, trace it with a normal pencil. It suits my taste very well. For 5 mm planking i guess your methods would work better tho. Also, the keel and constructive parts are 4 mm think. Just a heads up, may you ever think of the AMATI one. For now, i am afraid this is my best to keep you informed.

Hi Martin, your planking method sounds very interesting, would love to see it (you really do need to create a channel, you have some great tips, you helped loads with the Sovereign of the seas with your suggestions and work arounds), so Amati haven't gone down the route of reducing the ply thickness, thats good to know.

They used to make good quality models, always one of my favourites, views are changing ;-)

Just put in a little more work and it will look great too. Since they use 2-3mm plywood, i fill the gaps with balsa, model frame works differently, there is no other way.
