Y'all started discussing the math on the elr shots while I was driving. I kept having to tell myself to think about driving and not the math. It was making my head hurt trying to comprehend it. Fantastic interview. Eric, thank you a thousand times over for these interviews. They are an absolute gold mine of knowledge.

I went to high school with chase. I shoot long range but 1200 and in. People get impressed by what I do I show them what he does on IG to put some perspective on it. I just dabble. He recently got a hit at 1200 with a .22LR.

Nobody ever believes me. But my air rifle shoots 1inch groups at 200 yards. Lol sounds ridiculous, but it really does!! Soo when he smiles while talking about his .22lr shooting 1inch at 200 yards, I absolutely know what kind of work it takes to shoot those groups. And it’s worth smiling about.

Great interview men , what I have to say is the barrel is a tuneing fork it will shoot different from day to day what you want is 0 or close to it on resonance all things are factors.the earth is one radio waves and micro waves ,cell towers and such ,,that's my take on consistency day to day, crazy stuff I know . when a barrel heats up is it vibrating faster or slower.the diameter inside barrel didn't change,so why some get flyers .

Hey Erik, not sure if you’ll see this or not but you don’t need a big cartridge to shoot 2 miles just look up Mark and Sam after work. I took my 308 out to 2500 yards no problem your 7 mm all hit 2 miles easy as long as you have enough elevation in your scope. My first ELR rifle was a 300 ultra meg with a 34 inch barrel. I push the 245 grain burgers at 31 50 ft./s. It’s super sonic out to 2300 yards that shoots 2 miles easy.

@@pumpsprecision3520 I would build it copper solid capable, and run the standard jacketed bullets! I do believe that's a feasable option with those guns, unless the twist rate on a solid is to much. I'm in Michigan so it would be a fun gun more than a competition gun, but on the same note keep it ELR friendly for possible future endeavors. Thanks for the input

I think the nose ring mod is not beneficial; it will add drag because it will generate a weak shock wave depending on the depth of the cut. BTW, the wind will 'see' the nose of the projectile as the front of the projectile as it is the cause of the oblique shock.

ELR barrels must be expensive? Are anyone using nitriding to extend barrel life?: "Plasma Nitriding of Inner Surface of Slender Tubes using Small Diameter Helicon Plasma" Citation: Jin, C.; Zhang, Y.; Wang, C.; Liu, M.; Ling, W.; He, L.; Yang, Y.; E, P. Plasma Nitriding of Inner Surface of Slender Tubes using Small Diameter Helicon Plasma. Materials 2023, 16, 311. "Deleted internet address due to KZfaq refusing the comment" Academic Editor: Abdollah Saboori Received: 24 November 2022 Revised: 19 December 2022 Accepted: 21 December 2022 Published: 29 December 2022 Quote: "... For the nitrided HWP, a nitride layer with a thickness of 14 μm was produced on the surface, approximately two times higher than in the ICP nitrided layer. Surface hardening resulting from nitriding can enhance the microhardness up to HV1820, which is nearly nine times higher than that of the untreated surface. It can be concluded that in this study, the enhancement in micro￾hardness is primarily attributed to the creation of γN phase with compressive residual stresses and microdistortions in the high N-containing layer as a result of high concentra￾tion of N+ . This solution can be applied to improve the hardness of the inner surface of slender tubes, ..."
