Puppy training: the first of many, this episode of "Bella...Be Good" is #1 in a series that we will be sharing with you over the next year or more. Bella was a 15 week old British lab when we filmed this first video of the series and after a couple days of simply "settling" into routine around our place we started working on building a few good early habits in. A few, and I literally mean just 2 or 3 retrieves is all we wanted and our focus was sharing the dummy with her, not taking it away. I want her to know that we are going to share the dummy upon return in addition to praise. These first puppy retrieves are where we begin laying the ground work to a solid delivery. We also are finding a few habits that aren't the most desirable at feeding times and we work on putting together a plan to remedy that.
This puppy training series with a British lab puppy will follow Bella on a day to day basis as we will be training her to be a gun dog, shed dog, deer tracking dog, and a family dog. We hope that this series will help you with your own training, and give you a better feel for how to train your own dog to do any of these things.
