Bellevue's Lake Hills neighborhood residents on high alert after rash of car prowls

Police are searching for three girls who were involved in at least 18 car prowls in a southeast Bellevue neighborhood on Thursday night.
Bellevue police are looking for three girls connected to the car break-ins. Police said the suspects used hammers to smash at least 18 vehicles near 153rd Avenue Southeast late in the night of Jan. 25.
Bellevue police located the suspects the night of the crimes. But police weren't able to pursue them when the driver sped off in a vehicle, stolen out of Tacoma.
Police said they now have emphasis patrols in the Lake Hills community.

I’m from Tacoma and I endorse Bellevue getting the same action we have dealt with forever. Remember everyone the cities put in LED Streetlights about 6 years ago. These lights are 66% less light than those they replaced. Light is the #1 crime fighting tool. Call your city council and politicians and tell them you want brighter LED’s. Btw they never asked you if you wanted this.

@@goshdarnit I don’t endorse crime. I also don’t endorse policies that make our communities less safe. The Bellevue police had these girls apprehended. That’s good police work. The policy makers neutered them by not allowing them to chase and arrest them. How many times in the last 2 years have we heard this story. Nobody asked the public specifically if we should allow police to do their jobs using their expertise as their guide. That’s what I am against. I don’t wish car prowls on anyone. I have had my cars gone through so many times I just leave them unlocked with the glovebox open. The criminals won.
