Ajahn Brahm brings the concept of Enlightenment down to Earth through offering the simile of the mist, and how sometimes we lose our direction even though we think we’re on the right track. Ajahn Brahm clears the mist of unknowing so that we have a clearer sense of the path to Enlightenment, and complete freedom.

If I may add some thoughts about loving our enemies... Maybe a more benefiting way to realize, that there are no enemies. Like there are no weeds. Only our mindset makes up this differentiation. In reality, there are only things with their distinct nature, so being hit by an angry man does not differ from being hit by a falling stone. Nothing is personal. Just follow your own nature: avoid "falling stones", make peace with "falling stones", learn from "falling stones". Thanks for the talk. :)

@donnaglaser: Forgiveness is not the same as allowing her to hurt you. Forgiveness is about letting go from within. But to let go, you also have to let go of your sister and her actions. But it doesn't mean you have to allow her to walk on you. You have the right to create a boundary that says "this is where you end, and I begin". You cannot control how she acts towards you, but you can control how you allow her to act toward you. I hope that makes sense. Take care : )

Wonderful talk. Sadhu Sadhu Sadhu. Just one comment: Be kind and be gentle. If a person is not angry, please don't shout at others no matter who you are and who the other person is. If you are angry, don't shout at others. Yo scare others by shouting is no anyone's right.

I used to want to be a monk. But I've grown accustomed to the world. I'm married now and I can practice on the Dharma without being a monk. I highly respected monks and nuns but I decided it wasn't for me. I can still be kind even though I have possessions.

Enemies are only enemies if the are MADE into enemies. If people are made into friends or allies or lovers that is another option. Unfortunately some people need enemies to fight, need wars to make money. If there are no enemies, some will be found or manufactured. That is why nations are enemies, allies, enemies, allies, back and forth, for never ending wars. Those who like money and war dislike peace and poverty and also dislike Buddhism.

@donnaglaser Make peace with the way she is. You can't change her, and you don't want to pollute your own mind. Its controlling your attitute towards how she behaves. I know its easier said that done, but I also know its not impossible. Good luck! :)

Moksha is earned, not given, and that is the essential difference between Moksha & Heaven. One can beg for Gods mercy, grovel like a dog, and then be allowed to taste the pleasures of a flesh-happy heaven, but one cant beg for Moksha, because Enlightenment is acquired thru knowledge. Even if the Teacher takes pity on a student who turned in a bad paper, and passes him, it doesnt mean the student had suddenly acquired the knowledge. Reach for the Higher goal, reach for Moksha
