love the variety of people involved and the obvious fun they're having with the dance, traditions should not be allowed to vanish

Our amazing indigenous British identity and culture! We're heading towards minority status, but I hope we won't go gently into that good night.

The British middle-classes killed our folk traditions. Guys like these are bringing them back to life. WASSAIL!

The traditional Morris men in white outfits, leg bells and effeminate flapping of hankies, have been performing these traditional fertility ritual dances for years These guys have taken the tradition, brought it up to date, grabbed it by the scruff of its neck, and turned it into a fantastic, scary war dance! I want these guys on my side when we all raise the pitchforks against the 'one percent'

this is also a traditional morris dance just like the dancers you described just a different style of morris. This is border morris, the one you described is Cotswold as well as those there are many more (North west, clog, rapper, long sword, molly) all of which are still being preformed around the country. They are all different forms and all very important to English Folk

chocolateburger100 Thanks for the heads up on morris dancers, and sorry bout my flippant remarks, made in my ignorance of English folk culture. I'm Scottish, and our country dancers just don't have the kick and bite of these Border Morris guys.

gruntoblumpharglegargle not a problem mate :) If you not into the folk scene you'd probably just associate morris dance with the one style you'd seen. I agree though border morris is alot of fun to do. Scotland has some lovely traditional dances, though I've only really seen the step dances in person
