THE REVIEW
I watch each episode with my own commentary, often pausing the scenes to get my words out without having to talk over the episode, and also to point out and analyze the show's art and animation. I have seen each episode already growing up, so these reviews are to compare and contrast the five categories listed below.
PLOT (Scaled from 1 to 5 Points)
The foundation of the episode. Uniqueness and overused tropes are taken into account, but it is also judged on how well it tells the story of the episode. An episode can score a 5 even with a basic/ cliche plotline as long as it has good pacing, worthy use of its tropes, and feels well-polished. An episode can lose points due to plotholes, uneven storytelling, and relying too heavily on cliches to do the work for it.
CHARACTERIZATION (Scaled from 1 to 5 Points)
How well the characters are written. Do they feel like themselves compared to the grand narrative of the franchise? Are the supporting or one-off characters interesting, or pure plot devices? Did the humor land? Did the actions and character motivations make sense?
VISUALS (Scaled from 1 to 5 Points)
Basically, everything that happens on-screen. Character Design. Animation. Backgrounds. Creative mechanics and solutions. If there is CGI or digital effects added, how well do they blend into the show, and were they used as an enhancement, or a crutch?
IMPORTANCE (Scaled from 1 to 5 Points)
This includes, but is not strictly based on, how important the episodes are to the current story arc (if there is one) or the general narrative of the Ben 10 Franchise. Points can also be awarded for how impactful the episode was, or how favored/ important it is to the general Ben 10 fanbase. I ask myself, "If I skipped this, would I be missing out on the 'Ben 10 Experience?' "
ENTERTAINMENT (Scaled from 1 to 5)
Pretty much the most important part of developing a tv show. You can be perfect in all four of the previous categories, but the episode can still be boring. On the flip side, the episode can be absolute garbage, but still an enjoyable watch. How likely would you be to put this episode on if you were in the mood to watch Ben 10?

always like that Ra’ad actually refers to the other aliens as his “friends” despite him being very suspicious of Galapagus and relationship with Bivalvan being a truce at best. It’s as if he did come to appreciate them off screen, and was angry at Ben for what he did

@@au7923 always assumed his reasoning for why he was so malicious was partly taking revenge against Ben for what he perceived as the reason his friends got kidnapped. I would’ve liked to see them more, possibly have them decide to actually stay as a group

Ampfibian being able to read minds really made him stand out among Ben's Electrical aliens that alongside Brainstorm, he'd be one of MY go-to Electrical aliens to use before Feedback existed⛈😎

@@rontanamo_bae plus he always floats and can possess certain people so he's basically just electric ghost freak. Which basically makes him the ultimate spy. The only thing he's missing is shape shifting but you don't really need that if you can possess people Maybe Ra'ad's species is a long forgotten ancestor of the ectonurite. Like maybe some ancient ectonurites got thrown into a wormhole or something like that

Probably the best electrical alien has intangibility like big chill electrokenesis he can read kinds which I’m surprised a cerebrocrustation can’t do really am amperi is probably the best elemental transformation Ben has aside from big chill heat blast amd water hazard which I’m convinced could do what overflow can do

Littler detail I noticed in the episodes When Jetray fights raad and raad attempts to electrocute him in the pool he seemed immune Later on in omniverse, agent swift a Aerophibian (jetray species) hybrid is seen fighting ampfibian and She just bounced his electric attack off, straight up holding it So my theory is Aerophibian are some how immune to electricity or if not Amperi (amfibian and raad species) electrical tentical attacks Nice continuity if true

Ra'ad was always my favourite out of the Andromeda crew. I liked his take on the whole thing, and him being the last to be capture really helps with his desperate plans and personality. He's an antagonist, but one that stand out among the others we saw, giving him the ability to stand out on his own. But he also isn't without reason, and you can tell he's just a scare and unsure person, being hunted by a villain he knows is not something to take lightly. He somewhat reminds me of the dragon, and it really goes to show that sometimes people will do bad things because they don't have a choice, but there can still be good in them.

Ben's transformation into R'aad is amazing. The fluidity of the animation is exactly what I love about Ben 10.

It feels more in line with an OS transformations sequence than AF ones But the other times it appears, it's full on green/black, so it looks more like Rath's (which is like a mix of both the OS and AF style)

"... And im going to use their power to save them !" Will you, Ben ? They missed the opportunity to make that happen. Only half of them appeard in Gregs arc from now on (one of witch was a misstranformation. And basically just Ampfibian was used to do something in the rest of the arc. I think they realized that, oops, Greg has the power of all 5, so maybe it's not very useful to use the same powers against him.

decided to look it up: - Water Hazard was used once before this episode, and then used only one time in the Greg arc... accidentally. After Ultimate Kevin he would only use him two more times in UA (3 if you count the nightmare episode) - Terraspin is used once in this arc, at the Forge of Creation itself. he does get more afterwards tho. - NRG is also used once in this arc... accidentally. At the forge of creation itself. But afterwards he does get more uses - Armadrillo is used once in this arc... during that filler JT/cash episode. Woo. He's then used once after forge of creation in the Kevin arc and then get a few more uses afterwards - Ampfibian is used once in this arc, during the Ripjaws planet episode (don't ask how an electric being exists just fine underwater). only used two more times after the Greg arc, but at least he's in the Generator Rex crossover. So yea, he really only uses 2/5 of them against aggregor. 2/5 of the rest were mistransforms so he wasn't even intending it, and the last one was a filler episode.

I also love the small detail of Amphibian's eyes being blue during his first appearance, as all of Ben's aliens are green to represent Ben's soul in all of his transformations. Whereas to Amphibian, he's sharing his mind and conscience with Ra'ad, showing that Ben doesn't have full control of the alien yet.

You know, Ra'ad is the closest thing to a "ghost alien" from the Ultimate Alien batch. Same with Big Chill for AF. It's **always** a ghost related alien. . . . . Looking at you **Whampire!**

@@lonemotheo1964 doubtful. There's still 40 UA episodes to cover, then 80 OV and hundreds of reboot episodes. There's simply not much time and Kuro said he doesn't want to work on this forever. I completely get that kuro doesn't want to spend the entire decade on this.

While P'andor was my fav Prisoner, Ampfibian was my fav transformation to come out of the andromeda five. So much about him just stands out. And not gonna lie....took me forever to figure out the pun behind the name. As for Greg, that's true. Similar to most villians, he's another bad guy that Ben isn't aware was tailing him. Only difference is he truly has no interest in Ben. He didn't want the watch, it was just a tracking device for his REAL targets. Hell, even when Ben stands in his way of the Map of infinity, Greg didnt see him as a threat. What a villain

I know it's part of the story or something, but can we could talk about the fact that Ben didn't think at least a little bit about checking the Ultimatrix to see if it's okay and it's not spied on or something after taking it from Albido? It's like when you get a chainsaw that attaches to your arm and the blade is pointed at your hand and you don't think about checking it to at least see if it won't cut your hand when you use it.

There's honestly so many storylines that could have been told with the ultimatrix but the writers just seemed to use it as an excuse to keep the series running without an actual plan for the gimmick

@@macula380 Umm no? The Dagon arc had arguably some of the best story ideas in the franchise. It just likely fell flat on its face because they did not have enough budget to go all out, and executed it poorly towards the end. As for the filler, UA has some of the best filler stories of Ben 10. So many back-to-back classics like Prisoner 775, It’s Not Easy Being Gwen, Catch a Falling Star, etc. Let’s stop pretending as if UA did not tell a lot of good stories post S2. Plus, UA animation is not even that good to warrant your comment.

Off-screen he did lock away Alien X so only with keys provided by Gwen and Kevin could unlock it, as shown in the Map of Infinity episode, so he’s done some examination under the hood.

@@UsernameUsername0000 I know what you're saying, the AU had some important aspects in the lore, but the problem is that also a lot of important things stay in the air, such as the phase with Doctor Victor being on earth, the fact that Azmut constantly says that the Ultimatrix is not good for anything although much of it has already been created by him, or the fact that, as I said the first time, Ben gets to use the most powerful weapon of one of his enemies without making sure he's not spied on through it like Agregor did

One major down side....... Ben declares that he will use the powers of the Andromeda 5 to save them.... but he never used any of those forms to fight Greg.... closest we got is him using Terraspin to take out some of those robots.

Impressive speed with the breakdowns. Always loved Raads characterization and role in this episode. His design and powers are really cool too, it really is a shame Ben not only barely uses him, but when he does he's just "squishy flying electric guy", never utilizing the ability to turn into electrical energy and pass through outlets and such, as well as being able to read minds. The episode itself is very cool though and has a real feeling of tension and danger to it, especially in the climax with the Brainstorm fight, which honestly might be one of the most brutal fights in all of Ben 10, I mean his literal brain gets fried, Greg stabs the Ultimatrix while he lies there in pain and Ben's cries of pain are quite bone-chilling. So far I have absolutely been reminded of why I love Ultimate Alien so much and why this is one of my absolute favourite Ben 10 arcs.

I still didn’t understand how ra’ad knew that his friends were captured and it was because of the ultimatrix scanning each one of them. I also did like ra’ads character development throughout the episode. How he was a bit aggressive at first towards the trio and he later sacrificed himself for the trio. As well as how ra’ad cared about his friends which most of them didn’t towards one another such as p’andor. A fantastic episode.

I figured that AmpFibian came from the fact that he could comfortably be used in water as well as above it... Even though we never learned about that transformation's aquatic capabilities 'til the ocean planet. Making it a literal amphibious alien kinda like Ripjaws.

This is honestly one of my favorite UA episodes and definitely my favorite Andromeda Five episode. I love how every time they use the idea of Ben being taken over by an alien it is done completely differently to keep the idea fresh, I just wish we got an episode of it in Omniverse to continue the tradition.

Maybe a more childlike or naive form, not inherently dangerous but not grasping the gravity of the situation either so Max and Rook have to get through from the outside and Ben from the inside. It’d justify using the base characterisation of Omniverse Teen Ben.

So Aggreggor wanted Ra'ad for his electrokinesis, but didn't attempt to use Ben as a cerebrocrustacean. Which I assume would have gave him electrokinesis and enhanced intelligence, considerin he never uses Ra'ad's ghost-like abilities.

Cerebrocrustaceans may have electrical abilities, but Amperi are said in this episode to be masters of the electromagnetic spectrum. I think Derrick J. Wyatt even said at one point that he considers Brainstorm a better brain alien than an electric one.

These five aliens were so important to a story arc I'm just disappointed that they didn't get an ultimate transformation one of them sacrificed themselves for the trio's and argits survival now I want to see ash draw some designs for an ultimate water hazard terraspin NRG armadillo and ampphibian just imagine what they could have looked like or done to help Ben stop aggergor and it might have made the map of infinity arc better to some extent

One thing I hate about Ben 10 aliens is that, the species have more OP abilities then Ben thinks, but Ben doesn't doesn't attempt to utilize them.

I always wonder if the nightmares are the same one seen in Destroy All Aliens. If so, that means Ben must've been scared of losing his identity and being consumed by the DNA. It would be subtle if we included Race Against Time as being BenEon was more traumatize then Zs'Skyare. But that theory was dropped when Ben becomes obsessed of Feedback.

I'm kinda sad all the main story arc episodes are being given quick breakdowns especially considering just how many filler episodes are in Ultimate Alien. I mean I'm happy to be getting something and appreciate the work put in just wish we got a bit more for the main story arc.

I prefer those transformations to the UAF ones, far more visually engaging and for classic, leaning more into the body horror aspects of the transformations.

It would’ve been cool to see Ben use Ultimate versions of the Androma galaxy aliens to fight Aggregor, it would’ve played into the new ultimatrix power and played into the arc thematically, Aggregor wants to use their power to become more powerful, while Ben uses the ultimate versions of the aliens to become more powerful then Aggregor, or at least he could’ve used the Androma galaxy aliens to find the pieces of the map of Infinity like Aggregor was doing, that was the whole point why Aggregor got those powers and Ben was able to access 100% of each of their powers instead of 10% like Aggregor

I think this episode was the very first time I ever saw a new episode the very day and time it came out after seeing its trailer on tv over and over for like a week. I think that's why my brain seems to release good chemicals whenever I see AmpFiian, making him one of my favorite aliens. Shame the entire series forgets he has any powers except electricity( like the super useful mind-reading) and just never uses him.

the omnitrix is also easily traceable. remember vilgax tracks ben in season one of original series by tracking the omnitrix. sunder also uses it in singlehanded.

I loved Ra’ad’s episode it was really fun. I liked his personality he was cold but still caring for the others & Ben towards the end. His abilities are great the phasing, underwater breathing & mind reading sets him apart from other electric types

Nice breakdown. One thing that kinda buged me in the episode is that it's established that Rad can read minds and he concludes that if push came to shove Ben was going to give him to Greg. I was confused because if he is correct that seems very out of character for the trio. However, If he was wrong he could not read minds at all. This is the one of the few moments that reading minds comes to play and feels very cconfusing.

The episode Hero Time coming after this in both production and airing order is so bizarre because we pick up Ultimate Aggregor essentially where Fused left off, leaving Hero Time as a weird middle piece between those two episodes. This implies that Aggregor has been trying to get Ra’ad off the planet for an entire episode. Hero Time should’ve definitely come out earlier in the season as it ties into Ben’s status as a celebrity more and not wedged between two arc-centric and integral episodes. It should’ve been after Fame but before Escape from Aggregor, so it could be either the second, third, fourth or fifth episode of the season. That being said, I still like Hero Time. The same can be said for Reflected Glory which in both production and airing order is sandwiched between Map of Infinity and Deep. There’s nothing wrong with having filler or more minor key episodes in arc-centric stories, but I think because of the stakes of this arc and how each episode is a direct continuation of the next, it messes up the pacing just a tad

Fun fact about me. When I was younger I wanted to watch Ben 10 On Demand, but all The Episodes listed were just this one. I don't know if this was the case for anyone else, but it was interesting that this episode took over the listing like how Ra'ad took over Ben.

It’s ironic how Yuri Lowenthal reprises his role as Ampfibian in Omniverse, albeit with a different accent and bubbly voice, despite that Ben was merged with Ra’ad in that particular episode. The blue eyes and Ben’s regular voice as Ampfibian were a clever dead give away to show that red flags were being raised.
