this is probably my favourite routine in british stand-up comedy history. it never ever fails to make me laugh, even after what must be about 20 years now. The material is spectacular, his delivery absolutely flawless. And like all great observational comics, he makes you notice something you already knew, but had never quite seen it that way before. Absolutely brilliant

This still makes me laugh. The John Major routine from 16:43-19:18. For those of us who have ever asked, who decides what fashion will be, Ben gave a good answer.

I found it painful at the time (or however long after "the time" we got it in NZ) and it certainly hasn't aged well. Ben's mannerist style just doesn't do well on TV or after the 80s to my mind. And,... as for Ronnie Corbett, you've got to love him but WTF? Cringe. Elton has been a very gifted writer (I'm not talking musicals or really even "novels" here), but I have to cast my lot in with the "lost it" or "sold out" brigade. Pity.

Don't mean to be a troll, but I've taken a little look at Ben's latest TV effort, a sitcom. Starts early on with re-use of a stand-up theme (swing bins), but it's really, really awful: watch?v=-LnUKi1E4e4 Sometimes its best to just stop, before getting sucked into some bizarre reincarnation of another Benny. It's that bad. Do we all ultimately become what we in our idealism hate? Biggest laugh from the (real?) audience is to writing "GREAT BIG COCK" on a board. Pity. And stop please.

Just shows how sexually charged the BBC is. In the headbobbing scene, Ben puts his hand on the women's knee at 1:03 and takes it off at 1:10. I know it's supposed to show compassion to an afflicted person but still...ehm. It's not nice to look at considering all the scandals that are going on now.
