Fans worldwide fell head over heels for Ben Platt during his Tony® Award-winning turn in the title role of Dear Evan Hansen and on-screen in films such as the Pitch Perfect franchise. As the vocalist, actor, and performer sang life into a host of nuanced and fascinating characters, audiences embraced his voice wholeheartedly. By dusting off the piano, picking up a pen, and singing his own truth straight from the heart, he shared another side of himself as a solo artist.
Ben achieved superstar status as Evan Hansen in Dear Evan Hansen, originating the lead role. The New York Times lauded him as a “breakout star,” and he went on to receive the 2017 Tony® Award for “Best Actor in a Musical.” Other honors included “Best Musical Theater Album” at the 2018 GRAMMY® Awards for the Original Broadway Cast Recording of Dear Evan Hansen, “Outstanding Musical Performance in a Daytime Program” at the Daytime EMMY® Awards for a cast performance of “You Will Be Found” on The Today Show, and more. Signed to Atlantic Records by Chairman and C.E.O. Craig Kallman and President of A&R Pete Ganbarg, he explored his formative influences, ranging from timeless singer-songwriters such as Joni Mitchell and Carole King to legendary crooners like Donny Hathaway, Ray Charles, and Stevie Wonder. As a result, the music delivers confessional lyricism by way of soulful intimacy as part of one cohesive narrative on his 2019 full-length debut, Sing To Me Instead. The 12-track album, which was primarily produced by Jenn Decilveo, chronicles the highs and lows of a transformative relationship. Showcasing his story, Ben penned several songs solo and co-wrote the remainder of material alongside the likes of Ben Abraham, Eg White, Nate Cyphert, Michael Pollack, and more.

If you analyze it, the album is arranged in a way to show the stages of a long-term relationship. Starting with Bad Habit as the "crush" stage and going through couple problems in Grow As We Go, real compromise in Share Your Address and finally 'Run Away' is like the definite promise of staying forever with your partner. ITS LIKE BEN FREAKING PLATT PRODUCED A MOVIE IN THE FORM OF SONGS I LIVE FOR IT

Last song in the album I’m listening to and I just have to say this was so amazing. Their is something so refreshing and a sense of happiness just rushes over you when you listen to a album for the first time and this was no different. Thank you Ben for this amazing album it is so great and I’m so proud of you for telling all of these stories. I saw him perform this live in Los Angeles at the Dolby Theatre! His voice echoed through that theatre like magic 💙💙.. I've never ever witnessed a concert with the crowd so silent. Saw many people wiping tears off their cheeks, including me. Very epic performance! !

Well, maybe you have noticed this before, but with another choruses, the music evolves. With each chorus, more sounds are added. It is beautiful, because it shows how many the same words can mean and gain more and more value. Ben Platt is for me the Best poet of XXI century!

I binge watched all of The Politician in one night. I felt like crying at one part (not sure exactly when, it was really early and I was tired), but then I heard this in the background and that just pushed me over the edge. I've been waiting to hear the actual recording. This song hits chords inside my heart. The first time I played the live version of it for my mother, we both sobbed and remembered my grandparents. It's gorgeous and has an indescribable emotion. I'm so proud of Ben for having the affect he does, and I can't wait to see him grow.
