Felder wrote music, plays electric 12 on record doubling part. Live he plays Gibson 12/6 double neck switching between rhythm and lead. Frey played the acoustic 12 rhythm part throughout.

Nice one, Ben. Love playing my 12. Pink Floyd is a beautiful riff, then changing into the C....Gorgeous track 👍 How about 'Wanted Dead or Alive : Bonjovi', or 'Hole Hearted by Extreme'. They're both firmly in my favourite 12 string track to play

I got my first 12 string when I was 15 (my dad's 70s Hofner acoustic). To this day they're still my absolute favorite guitars to play and definitely shaped my playing style significantly as I use slides vs bends a ton.

Is it just me or is the tuning off just a bit on the last two guitars? Otherwise, really enjoying these best-of segments .. nice! PS. One non-70s riff you might look at is Hole Hearted by Extreme.

Once again, there is reference to the AMP! Or for that matter, the Microphone! It only takes a few seconds of speech, to include info on the AMP, and or MICROPHONE. Are we hearing the guitar, through an Amp, from the onboard pickups? or, as an acoustic guitar, through the Microphone, that is sitting in front of the guitar?

You already missed Closer to the Heart from the 70's but you asked for non 70's.. Wanted Dead or Alive don't care about how someone feels about hair bands. It sold more albums than a lot of the songs that were chosen. It's also kind of iconic. Free Fallin by Tom Petty, not sure how this was missed. Skid Row - I Will Remember You still gets airplay and sold millions. Tesla - Love Song great tune. Not enough love shown to the guys in Tesla. Edit: Someone else might have to suggest something from the 90's and 2000's XD

Don Felder had written the riff and played on the album. Glen only played the rhythem on gigs. Even on gigs, Felder played the riff with two arms Gibson Guitar 6/12.

Very nice departure from the usual riff stuff. But why not include a Martin? My HD 12-28 has a lot more low end than the guitars you featured, and that's the reason why Gilmour et. al. all played Martins!

Great tunes Ben and some of my favourites (although I would have added Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel's Come Up and See Me). Although not strictly 1994, there's some great tracks to try on the Page & Plant album No Quarter although you'll have to mess with tunings - DADGAD for No Quarter - Open G for That's The Way and back to Standard for Gallow's Pole. Even better if you have an Ovation 12 string for the latter two :-)

A lot of 12 string recordings are just two 6 strings recorded overdubbed with the octave changed on one

That’s an old studio trick whereby one guitar has an otherwise normal set of strings and the other has the octave strings. The guitar with the octave strings is now called a Nashville-tuned guitar.
