it´s very true that there´s a lot of work to be done to reach f.e. "the christian god" and then even more to reach anyone´s specific denomination. But I´m currently reading that book by Faser and he´s pretty clear that he´s aware of that. However, on having to show that it´s "a" god he makes very interesting points about the ways in which a "prime mover", a "purely actual actualizer" would necessarily have attributes that would be used to describe a god, such as being one, unchanging, omnipotent, intelligent, perfect and even "fully good". I´m not done with the book yet, some of these still seem like a stretch but I´ve only just arrived at the point where he starts to focus on these attributes. I´ll probably look into that book by Joe Schmid, because this level of philosophy is way too far beyond me to be able to adequately understand all of Fasers arguments, much less assess their validity

Or maybe there just is an infinite regress. It seems like the only argument we have against it is that, "It would take an infinite amount of time to get to the present moment," and such and such. Which isn't actually an argument it's just restating the original argument and acting incredulous about it. If infinities can exist then I'll don't really know that it's a problem aside from the fact that we don't understand it.

@@nathanjasper512 I'm still on the fence on infinites. Actual infinites seem incoherent to me, reason being it seems to suggest being from nonbeing. For e.g. Where do these properties go and where do they come from, ofc assuming change is defined as a gain/loss of a property. For example, let's say there is an infinite series of changes, why did change itself begin and how? Seems we would have to make up some kind of arbitrary brute fact to explain that, which gives equal credence to the possibility of change not being infinite or betr yet, being completely illusory. Was there an initial state prior to change? Maybe inertness? If existence was once inert, then how did motion emerge? The better question for me would be to ask, if existence is the only actual or synonymous with everything that exists including the relations that establish distinctions, where do the different modes of being come from and where do they go. from and into nothingness? Thus, I sympathize with Parmenides problem of change. Existence seems to be the sort of thing that cannot gain/lose a property because it cannot gain what it already has and cannot lose what it never had , otherwise that would contradict ex nihilo nihil fit and vice versa. If we define existence as the totality of reality, then by definition, change must be an illusion but that begs the question of whether the illusion itself undergoes change and it doesn't seem to me like the illusion of change, changes as it leads to a paradox. If we allow actual infinites, then it seems alot of things become permissable, that we once thought to be impossible. Like an infinite amount of divisions, an infinite amount of space, an infinite amount of reasons, an infinite amount of possibilities but the word infinite seems to flirt with our ignorance and claims something to be possible simply because there is no internal contradiction in claiming so but clearly, we are within our epistemic rights to claim water is not h20 as being metaphysically impossible. The same way maybe actual infinites can be argued to be metaphysical impossibilities and potential infinite such as an infinite quantity or quality are like abstract mathematical fictions. They are strictly mind dependent abstractions and may not exist in an ontologically objective sense. How do we even begin to prove that an actual infinite is metaphysically possible?
