If humans can die as a punishment for the original sin then animals can die too. A planet where the only mortal species is human wouldn't make sense. The problem is the existence of animals that need to feed on flesh for their survival. Carnivores. That is what doesn't make sense. If the answer to that is to keep nature in "balance" then there could be an easier and cruel free way, have reproduction of animals/insects/humans balanced from the start, then there would be no need for "population control", also make the digestive system capable to absorb more nutrients from plants, make plants nutrient rich, make organisms last much longer without consuming food etc. The thing is I still believe in god, but not the god of religions, not a perfect by human measure god, just a creator god which is connected to every living being in this universe.
