Drawing your focus AWAY from the dot is so much harder than it sounds. Especially when you've been shooting wrong your whole life. I appreciate the content, Mr. Stoeger. Invaluable information for free.

I went from a D to a C this year and I have only been following these videos. The dream would be to take a class but can't afford the class plus travel and time. But appreciate that Ben puts all this out for free.

This is very helpful. I’ve been split between target focus and front sight focused. I’ve seen improvements in the first range session focusing on being target focused.

I'm not debating here, genuinely curious. In actual competition we don't have a small spot to focus in as you stated in the video. You also said we can look at an off colored pasty but it might not always be there, and if it is, it might not be centered. Wouldn't that slow a shooter down significantly? Scanning a target looking for a suitable small area to focus on before you decide to shoot? Or do we have to pick an imaginary spot and focus on it for the most part? Does quality of vision have a lot to do with this as well? I know Hwansik Kim wears bottles for glasses so I don't think that is the case

Indoor matches it is very hard to target focus with iron sights (sights so blurry that they disappear). My problem or normal?

I am a bullseye shooter trying my hand in run and gun stuff and watching this channel closely. Indoor ranges have very dim, spotty and bad quality led unusable lighting, I call it 'nightclub' lighting. Very good for training low light situations😊 For that reason I exclusively shoot reddots for indoor league, and all irons for outdoors. I enjoy shooting irons, find it extremely relaxing, but trying to shoot precision bullseye pistol with irons in indoor lighting is extremely frustrating

How would you suggest I stay target focused when I have an eye condition that basically renders me a one-eyed shooter. I am right handed and right eye dominant. My left eye works but it is SOOO dormant that it might as well be turned off. If I cover my dot I can't see the target. I am unable to see with both eyes and let my brain combine the two for a complete sight picture. I see left eye OR right eye. Never both together. I am trying to stay target focused but I think the dot MUST be drawing some of my focus. How would you suggest I deal with this? Thanks for all you info and videos. I can't wait to get into a class.

Does it mean front sight and rear sight has equal light and level even if the sights are blurry doing target focus?

Yes, your focal point is a separate thing from the degree to which the sites need to be aligned. tight partial shot at 15 yards sites need to be even and level, open target at 5 yards you can get away with them not being so even and level, but in both cases they’re blurry because the focal point is a small spot on the target.
