Today we are going to talk about why good Soldiers get out of the Army. This is because of many reasons. Some of which being, favoritism, other life goals, and most hated of all, toxic leadership which is a big reason why people choose to leave the US Army.

Bottom line it’s just people and the way they run things. Yes most jobs have poor leadership. But this is the only job where they attach you to poor leadership and having to deal with them all the time even at home.

I felt this. When I got to my new unit, everything was good. I was on top of my game and I felt motivated. I had an incident that fucked me up mentally and I haven’t been able to recover. My leadership turned toxic and it really started to weigh on me. It would get so bad I’d have breakdowns and often critique myself for not being good enough. I’d spend hours on trying to correct things, push myself to be more focused and get shit done. Just to get my leave approved I had to work hard and exert myself. It was like pulling teeth. It got signed, but they didn’t want to let me go. When I did fuck up, I’d be belittled and treated like a child. Mass punishment would ensue. There wouldn’t be plans on how to fix the issue, just threats and aggression to “fix ourselves”. I was relieved to know we were gonna get a new NCOIC, only to be disheartened when I saw the two laughing together and getting along. Oh, no. As soon as one toxic leader left, another came in. Off the bat he picked up the same habits as the last… The Army ain’t what I though. If you plan on joining, think carefully and be prepared. I’ve got 20 months left. I hope I have enough strength to keep going, cause this shit ain’t it. Lol

Dude! I am still active, and can’t wait to get the F out. I love the army, but I hate my leadership. It’s been toxic since I got here. The biggest factor is favoritism! Bad soldiers get all the opportunities, while some of us good ones get sh$&t on all the time. We get all the BS while the homies of the NCOs get all the privileges (never in the motor pool, field, range , duties, etc.). Some how they get comp days and free time all the time.

To add to your comment, even if you enlist over 23 just to get that G.I bill, it's absolutely worth it. I met a lot of people doing career changes. That G.I bill is nothing to sneeze at. Then you could always direct comission into the white collar specialties (JAG, Cyber, Chaplain, Physician etc.). Anything past MAJ though you need a Master's as well as a Bachelor's to remain competitive.
@FadeHook23
@FadeHook23 3 жыл бұрын
@@noona514 why direct commission when you can make waaaaaay more money on the civilian side? If you come from a relatively poor family financial aid can cover about 98% of costs if you were to stay in state. I fell under this and honestly, you’d have to be a complete idiot if you think the cost of 4 years+ of your life is worth GI Bill when the Pell Grant and In-State grants are handed off like literal free candy to high school students? Why in the right mind would someone who’s a software developer making $150k as a 25 year old in Silicon Valley direct commission to be treated like dirt by someone dumber and above him? 🧐
@noona514
@noona514 3 жыл бұрын
@@FadeHook23 There's a lot of benefit to securing a pension for the rest of your life. Military surgeons for instance are definitely making the big bucks often retiring at COL. Now look...60-70K a year plus tricare for the rest of your life on top of making over 300k-700k in your civilian job is the sweet life. I'm not even including how much you make in family/specialty bonuses during your military service. I don't think 150k is a lot of money but okay. Direct commissioning in the medical specialties makes a lot of sense. And if you were bright enough to go to the military medical school you basically don't even have debts since you're paid 70k while in school.

I had a horrible experience in the Army. Basic training and AIT I experienced racism/colorism and that continued until I completed my contract. Sexually assault is huge in the military and it’s so disgusting. Many people in the military know about things and don’t acknowledge it. They always say, “See it report it” but don’t and that goes for EO as well. A lot of the topics you touched on I have experienced and it shocked me a bit that you mentioned those. I joined at a young age and when I got assigned to my unit in Kansas I just knew that I would have a horrible experience and that I wouldn’t re-enlist. I experienced Toxic leadership, favoritism, SHARP, harassment, bullying, hazing, EO and just want to let others know that this is definitely a thing and just keep that in mind if you’re thinking about jointing.

Every organization has its problems. Let’s not forget the primary purpose of the army is to fight and win wars. Nothing more or less. If you have a goal in mind stick to it. Get your post 9/11 serve your country get out. And get an education or a skill that’s worth a damn. You have a free degree and you have a work ethic and an understanding that you can work long hours to get ahead in the civilian world. Don’t get out without a plan or being able to provide for your family. It’s nothing wrong with getting out. Just be smart and use your resources. And never stop grinding !

What did it for me was the non stop being screwed over. Your mos will have a big part in this. I was a 92g, a cook. The hours were relentless. The nco's didn't care about anything but work. When I went to reclass, the retention nco sent me to a school that was an advanced version of the AIT for people that already had experience in the mos from the civilian side, or army. Needless to say, I didn't make the cut. And got sucked back into being a cook for another 4 years. An E7 was taking the course too and he was in that mos before. He pulled me aside and told me "you know they sent you here to screw you over, right?" Then he proceeded to drop a bunch of knowledge on me of how to get it fixed. When I went back to my old duty station, the paperwork essentially all got stuck in paperwork purgatory. I currently have 2 years and 4 months left, and I cant wait to get out.

I think you should make a video that will help people or soldiers adapt to bad leadership or learn where to seek help if they are in a really bad situation because of a toxic leadership. I know the big Army really are concerned about their soldiers. I know there are ways and proper channels that a soldier can go to if things really get bad but they dont teach that in BCT and AIT. So if you already had a bad leadership its going to be really hard to live and progress as a soldier.

It’ll be 12 years by the time my contract is up. I was mapping my career all the way to 20 years when the army shifted from readiness to “people”. Then started asking me to call soldiers parents to let them know little Johnny is ok. Then started demanding “talks” about skin color. Then wouldn’t shut up about “white supremacy” while silent for 6 months as blm, a racist communist organization, burnt the country down. Then I started getting cute emails inviting me to attend “unconscious bias” training and seminars. Then I was being encouraged to promote lgbt ideology during the month of the sacred heart of Jesus. At the same time told that delusional people who pretend they are the opposite sex are to allowed in. Then I listen to Gen. Miley defend critical race theory before congress. Those are just the big picture items. That doesn’t even cover the disturbing decline of standards in training and systematic decline in influence local leaders have.

so I’m having second thoughts. I told my recruiter that I wanted to go into the reserves but after talking with others that are in active duty I think I’ve changed my mind. I already took the asvab and I’m supposed to go take the physical next week I believe. I need to talk with my recruiter to ask if I still have a chance to change but at the same time I want to do reserves. I need advice lol I’m 17 I know it’s still young but I really do want to join

You changed your mind how? You want to go active duty or don’t want to enlist anymore. If you DON’T want to enlist because of what active duty guys told you, remember, they are active duty and you are reserves so you wont have to deal with daily BS like they have to. My opinion would be go for it, do reserves and if you dont like it at least its not active duty. You could also love it and later request active duty dude. Lastly you CAN change your mind before you ship out for basic. Your recruiter might tell you that you can’t but its a lie. You have the right to quit before shipping out, even if you already “swore in” at meps.

Your recruiter will get credit for you regardless whether you go Active or Reserves. In my opinion, Active duty first is better for most people because you get the full time benefits (GI Bill/College Fund/Pay/Travel/Experience), then if you choose to get out you have the option of doing the Reserves and getting those benefits on top of your Active benefits. Again, these are just my opinions...

@anthonyroberts2678 In civilian world, it's a joke, a fantasy, it isn't real. The only thing is that you gotta have money then it is good. But military, you realize the truth, the reality and makes you alive, but of course it's not perfect but better than civilian world due to benefits. Just gotta choose carefully of the branch in joining.

@@garouuchiha4041 sounds like to me your leadership brainwashed you with a bunch of nonsense!! You have Stockholm Syndrome. I like having moral autonomy and my ability to assert self ownership out here. The military does not do this. Also if you have any moral complexity, you are looked down upon. No thanks. I'll take my chances out here! I really do not care about the benefits if you do not believe in what you are doing I could care a less about the benefits.

@@garouuchiha4041 the military is not reality. You are fighting phony, losing, illegal, and immoral wars for politicians and their corporate sponsors. Really no reality there!! Fighting someone else's wars does not make you alive!! That is just the high you get when people are blindly loyal to you. Being beyond reproach is a bad thing! It diminishes the quality of your service.

If you are trash, you get treated like trash. Too many people believe that they have “toxic leadership” 90% of the time that’s not the case. It’s always the junior enlisted complaining about their NCO’s who do their job and try to motivate them. Wish we could bring back the old army.

Hi, so I plan on enlisting in the military. it's my dream and I'm willing to work hard for it. I'm currently studying for my GED and the ASVAB to enlist. But when I was younger(13) I was diagnosed w anxiety. It has gotten much better and I dont even take the medication because of how well I've been doing. will it disqualify me from joining? Even though it's better? If I'm able to get in I'm going to try my hardest and be one of the best soldiers. I'm praying and hoping that I can get in. If God be willing I'm joining in 1 or 2 years!🇺🇲✝️🙏😃 tysm for these videos! just found your channel!
