It's getting cold on the canals! We make it to the South Oxford canal but have to stop in the middle of nowhere as it's getting dark! Next morning we wake up to a frozen canal!...but we have to move, so through the ice we go!

Not sure what your on about ,most comments I see are all good ,great and amazing, mabey your one of these sensitive Liberals. With the world so screwed up, I so look forward to the weekend when I can watch your latest episode. Hi folks I see that you are safe and well. Winter is harsh on the canals . and always has been . I was born and bought up on a narrow boat I can honestly say that I loved every minute of it.. the sense of freedom that you get is a bonus no matter the weather my bring.. Unfortunately I had to leave narrow boat life after sixty seven years . mainly because of health issues. I still have friends that are living on the canals . one of who's boat you passed in this video.. I would like to thank you both for taking the time to put your videos out. As they bring back fond memories of my life living on the canals of this country. I sincerely hope that you have a happy and prosperous new year. .I hope that you stay safe and well .. Unfortunately there are a number of people on the canals that think they can take people's property . without asking for permission to take it. This seems to be the trend these days especially with people who walk along the towpaths. Near towns and cities... Anyway folks I am looking forward to your next video.

Country House Gent recently had the same issue of a hidden ledge under the side of the boat on the Oxford Canal. Minimal damage inside. Yours could have been nasty had a pan of stew been on the stove that day. Really good production, thank you.

Our boat is moored at Dunchurch, just a bit further along the canal, and I've used the locks there many times (they're the busiest on the network) and never noticed anything there. It probably ought to be reported to the CRT as those locks are manned on a regular basis.

Love those chilly fall days when the temps get to freezing, clear skies and no wind. Ice is probable 2 feet thick here now. It can get up to 4 feet thick but we've only had a couple days of -30F this winter. Temps mostly hanging around 0F. Thanks for taking us along.

Would be great to see a mash up clip of your journey over the four seasons, from the nice balmy days to the stormy weather that you have had to endure. Sounds daft but such little content has made this one of your more professional edits. Really enjoyed it as this to me is what canal boating is about. Restoration etc is one type of KZfaq but just watching the world go by as you journey is another. Like the cinema shots of using sharpness and out of focus backgrounds. Dear Emily, Ben and Alan Even though in Alberta we can experience -20 it is a dry -20. For you having the dampness and the -5 plus the breeze as you motor along BRRRR. The secret, if you have not discovered it, is to keep the cabin as dry as possible, wood heat is great for that and change your socks often. Synthetic socks are the worst. Guys buy yourselves a couple of balaclavas and long johns for future journeys. Stay dry, warm and safe. Mark Alberta, Canada

Great vlog! Winter, as beautiful as it is, poses many challenges. Top marks on ice navigation guys! Got stuck on the GU one year at Cosgrove. Managed to cruise about half a mile to the next pub. Phoned my boss from the pub to say I was going to be late for work the following week due to ice behind the lock gates 😆 Needless to say it didn't go well. Didn't like the job anyway 🙄Take care all xx

First time seen this video and enjoyed the journey thoroughly. Wasn’t boring as these videos can be. Loved all the sites and the necessary workings and delicious eating. Nice seeing your cat included too keeping cosy and warm. Looking forward to the next leg of your journey. Could we see where and how you bed down for the night if possible and not imposing too personal? Just never seen how and where one sleeps on these boats and does it stay warm overnight. Do the channels ever freeze so hard that the boats can't break through the ice? I had to put a blanket over me! I got a chill just watching you out in the cold weather...lol Love your videos.
