Thank you a year later! I just got my ff mini archbishop like 4 days ago, and now waiting on my first benchmade mini bugout cf, (Ive never even held ANY benchmades, I'm new to knives, often like 7 knives total, all under 130, and I been watching reviews hoping to get an idea of size and hoping theres some good closing action on this smaller bugout, and hoping I didn't get the wrong size bugout. Im loving the archbishop, and when u laid it down, I had to write this book.

As somebody that uses knives on a construction site. Orange handled knives attract me far more than any other. So easy to see when dropped or misplaced

I'm thrilled with the size and with orange being my favorite color. I plan to swap the hardware with my blue Bugout to give each a nice contrasting accent.

The bugout is possibly my favorite knife but the mini for $130 is insane. I'll wait a few months for them to be 80 or 90 on knife swap and when there are aftermarket scales. Glad you put out this video. Informative as always

Wish I woulda known this was happening before I got my son the blue one a couple months ago. Might still pick up the white one we love storm troopers, can't do orange, might be good for in the woods, hiking, hunting, etc that way you drop it easier to find

I just hope they dont judge initial sales on these the colors suck. My expectation is a wide variety of colors. I dont see a problem with the reg bugout flex in general use. I am excited for the od green and gray to match my full size bugout.

I use the aspire avp as well. Good vape. Use it at work to stealth vape.

I absolutely agree not the best color choices. I guess with the white you can dye it any color but I’m no the biggest coated blade fan. I guess with the orange the best color to dye it would be black with the orange thumb studs. I got mine in orange on pre order from blade hq and will probably end up getting after market scales once they start making them in titanium or cf maybe even micarta

I kept thinking to myself when I saw the original Bugout, it would be my EDC knife if it was a tad smaller. I even Googled “mini bugout” a couple different times to no avail. Until now! Sweet!! But those colors!?! I think I’ll wait.....a little longer....

Have u had any issues with the omega springs breaking on any if ur benchmade knives I have 6 of them but dont carry them much cause I'm scared if might happen lol

I’m going to see what I think about the white and if I don’t like it I’m glad that white should be at least easy to dye. I can just see this could be a great one for people who want to choose your own color “adventure”

Orange scales suits me fine as a work knife and something that I won’t loose in the bush.

I have the orange one, it's been a fantastic office carry (well, for two days so far!). yeah the color is loud, but in my environment it's not far off having some yellow or scarlet red utility knife on you. in that way it almost seems more familiar and less of an eyebrow raiser.

I wholeheartedly agree about the colors. This is exactly what I want, but the colors leave me confused. I'll wait for a proper color. Black isn't my cup of tea and Rit dye won't help orange thumbstuds/ barrel spacers.

My palm thumb fat gets in the way of the blade. Have to think about how I’m holding it every time. Regular not a problem. This is a bit smaller than anticipated.

It sure would be nice if they came with satin 20cv blade and od green G10 scales with red barrel spacers, in both full size and mini.

Mark II Ftw. I will just have to hold one. I resisted the bugout forever, I HATED it because the clip felt like it was made of the stuff they make the binder paper clips out of and it burned the crap out of my hand. Then I got a Clone with the intention of trying a standard clip on it since everyone raves about the OG. And you know what I didn't end up changing it. (though I do want to test it out on my 940) Now I need to get a legit Bugout, I am digging the CF Elite handle, not so much the coated blade, so if and when they do one with a non coated blade I may bite on that one. I am really curious about how a CF Elite handle would look in a different color, As I suspect it was speckled or something, and that's why they went all pencil lead on it. But I really need to hold a mini, I am really digging a kershaw fraxion I picked up for 10 bucks at the pawn shop and it has me wanting an atmos as well, but I would like a more respectable steel than 8cr M O V (think it with the A Team theme it makes it seem cooler than it really is) And the Mini Bugout really looks in that size category. But yes I give a hard pass on the orange and the white, at least for now, have to wait and see how your dye job comes out.

I wonder why there is such a big jump of price between the orange variant and the storm trooper one. I just feel like $17 is too much for a different color way and a coated blade. Cool knife nonetheless.

Speaking of super lightweight knives that cost too much for their materials, Al Mar released a bunch of new flippers the ultra light hawk, 2.75 inch blade at 1.3 oz up to a 4 inch blade at 3.4 oz., titanium framelock, ceramic bearings for $115 to $160. Oh the steel... D2. They look the kershaw version, the AM3 or AM4 or whatever it was. They've got a budget version for $37 to $44 for 8cr13 and plastic liner locks, these might be a better value. These are only on knifeworks or it's the only place I've found them.

I wonder is it possible to swap the mini blade into the full size? For those people who live with blade length restrictions but might want the larger handle real estate?

Everything you'd expect from a Bugout, and less.

I think it’s looks great but I agree with you on the white. It’s white! It’s gonna get dirty/dingy what ever. I like how it looks though. Marketing idea maybe?. If it gets to dirty you’ll want to buy new. I’m probably wrong but anyway. Thanks Brian for the review and excellent as always.

When you do bugout reviews how come you never show the bugout limited edition in the natural g10?

The white is nice, the blue I actually dont like at all, the black CF I like and the white and the jade limited edition, only blue I like is the Damascus model which is now discontinued

Such a practical knife platform. My complaint.. I like how Benchmade decided to do either DLC and white or orange and satin. I’d literally have to buy one of each and swap blades then sell and orange DLC. Id absolutely love white and satin for this knife. I just don’t care for DLC and I seriously don’t need like a high visibility knife haha. Someone at Benchmade was smoking crack I think. I have respect for Benchmade but at the same time, man, their designs don’t speak to me 95 percent of the time and their color scheme here puts that feeling on complete display. I do love the griptilian with the spyderhole. The Bugout is cool... but man. I feel like Benchmade try’s to do different from others to set themselves apart, which is awesome, except the fact that they totally blow it most the time. Maybe I’m just picky but there are companies out there that 90 percent of their designs I love, so to me I just want to see Benchmade do some more.. I don’t know.. stuff I like lol.

I like the color scheme. Although, I can see where it wouldn’t be ideal for a working man. It would be easy to murder out tho!

They made the "ugly" ones first to sell more knives. Nobody would buy these if they put out the cool ones first. One cool one and done. This way you buy the less than good looking one just to get your hands on one. I’ve gotta revise this comment...I got the orange version, and it is much nicer looking in person. I would bet the "storm trooper" version is the same. It’s the perfect size in my hand. Fits like a glove

The bugout series of knives are so nice, but just not worth the full butterfly price imo

I think marketing said, "so the people with 3" laws will buy them no matter what, how can we sell them to people who already own the regular sized version? Ah ha! We'll release them in some off the wall colorways!" And I'm sure those will appeal to some people, but they might lose just as many sales as they gain.

Re: Why white? I thought it was obvious to you, when you had the Storm Troopers helmets in the beginning...lot's of Star Wars fans. Btw, even the large (?) Bugout is too small for me. I have a 3.5" limit, so I want a blade as close to that...reason why I would rather have a Griptillian. If they made a 3.5" Bugout, I'd love it. Of course, they won't. I hate when they have a knife I just lust after and it's 5.6". Don't you think they'll come out with more colors?

I loved the bugout enough to pony up for one with a set of puttnan scales. Now its in pieces cuz the springs failed and the scale swap voided the warranty. Then Hogue came out with the Deca w g10 and 20cv for a similar price to the bug but with a superior lock. Wtf benchmade; plastic and s30v starting at 120 and gng up from there?😖😠

The most legal blade length in the United States is 3 inches. Benchmade should have only reduced the blade down to that for the mini and thus allowed for a slightly longer handle for us with large glove wearing hands. It's like they've paid zero attention to feedback on the mini griptilian over the years. Then the color choice of white or orange...WTF? 🤬🖕

The original Bugout is pretty wimpy as it is, The mini no thanks.

The Bugout is overpriced in my opinion. It was overpriced last year before they bumped the prices up even higher. I wouldn’t pay more than $80 for this knife. Patriotism be damned, I will continue to support Chinese companies like WE/Civivi until American companies figure out how to be more competitive.
