He's garnered over 1.2m subscribers with his top-quality content filmed from the mighty Nürburgring Nordschleife, and now the one and only ‪@mgcharoudin‬ is the guest of my latest podcast.
What I love about Misha is that he's a true driver at heart - performing up to 1000 white-knuckle laps of the iconic 13-mile race track he calls home each year, in some incredibly varied and capable machinery.
In this podcast, we talk his early days, the evolution of the last nine years living inside 'The Green Hell', and compare notes on racing now that he's delved into competitive motorsport.

It will be difficult for anyone to fill the shoes left by Sabine. Misha has done an incredible job learning the circuit intimately, and taking fans of the Ring round faster than they might ever do in their own car. If anyone in the world is carrying on that torche, it's Misha.

I’m pretty sure he’s not trying to fill Sabine’s shoes, he has a lot of admiration and respect for her. There are also other pilots that are more experienced around the ring. I’m just starting to see him being called the ring king, i’m pretty sure he does not think of himself as being the king.

The question at 17:00 - just to elaborate on Misha's answer... He's mentioned in the past that the biggest safety choice he made was to stop being someone _else's_ passenger. He said he made this choice because he had more close-calls at other people's hands than when he's driving, and his videos reflect that. Best move in my opinion. Cheers Ben! 👍😎🇦🇺

As a KZfaqr myself, I can tell you that when your audience expects a certain subject in your videos, it's hard to deviate from that and still get a happy audience. For example, in his normal videos, he talks just enough to get you interested in the car he's driving and the passenger, and then goes on to race. He knows people are there to see him absolutely demolish Nordschleife, so for him to talk more or make it all about himself wouldn't really sit well for a video because of the audience. I've met him a few times and the guy is awesome, very kind and of course smart as shit. He's very good at the things he does.

I wonder if I hold the record for armco replacement. My insurer was charged for 600M! I think it was EU15k and this was 20+ years ago! I came over the small crest after Tiergaten and aquaplanned. The clouds had just dropped rain really quickly and I didn't slow enough for the conditions. After going along the left barrier for a long time (locked wheels do nothing on grass!), the kink in the barrier sent me across the track into the barrier of the right side of the track which I hit at 45 degrees still with quite some speed. I bounced back into the sliproad of the left just before Hohenrain-Schikane! I'd done around 100 laps at the time in different conditions so whilst not an expert, I knew my way around a bit. I'm really glad you covered insurance. Too many people drive the 'ring thinking that they're only risking their car. People have lost their houses when they have to personally cover medical claims due to not having a policy in place. Before my accident, I checked with my insurance broker as it didn't look excluded but I wanted to be sure. The broker said the underwriter didn't want to cover me. I replied that if it wasn't excluded then I was covered regardless of their thoughts on it. They agreed and issued a new policy specifically stating that the Nordschleife was covered. I stuck with that insurer for a few years due to that. Great video. I'm surprised Ben hasn't experienced it. I couldn't resist and wanted to experience it once .... and ended up visiting from the UK twice a year.

Stig and Misha together.. AWESOME!!! Absolutely loved this - and I can confirm I've never, EVER watched or listened to a podcast in my life (until now)! That should tell you something about what I think of these two personalities from the world of motorsport. This was as entertaining as it was insightful, a real pleasure to take in from start to finish. I was fortunate enough to experience the ring last year (quite slowly driving my own car, but quite quickly in the MCS i30N - thanks to Hermann and Craig) and I absolutely loved the experience - I will be back and I hope to prep my car well enough to invite @mgcharoudin to rinse it out on a lap of the Green Hell. I loved the old Top Gear and enjoy Ben featuring on Carwow, a gent, a driver and all round great guy. Gonna hit that "Subscribe" button right now! 👍

KZfaq has tossed me some Misha videos, in the past. Being the cynical old fart that I am, I admit to not taking them too seriously (just another social media "star" taking excessive risks to flog "shock" content). Admittedly, I am just another moron keyboard warrior, sitting behind a screen in Miami, but this interview has, for obvious reasons, completely re-calibrated my opinion. Put it this way, 38 min flew by as fast as a ring lap. The insight pertaining to the "rules of the road" and insurance, on the ring, has answered questions that I have had for years. Thank you and hats off to you both.

Very interesting interview! Nice to hear the people that come to you to drive their car want you to send it. I do agree. I started with the nurburgring after that went to zolder and Zandvoort but it felt boring compared to the ring. It was fun but it was not as exciting as the ring. Iearned the track in forza motorsport. First time I came there is was quite nervous but when I started the first lap I did know all the corners speeds where different and it was way easier to feel what the car could do. Since I did more than 200 real laps with multiple cars and sometimes my motorcycle. I really love the track. There is nothing like it.

Its interesting to hear Sir Collins compare Oulton Park to Nurburgring. I drove Oulton Park for the first time recently and was surprised how similar it felt to The Ring. The width of the circuit, the camber, some of the turns... even the tree formations at the side of some areas of the track.
