John here, What a great honest review. I rode one last year at the ADV Festival and was impressed. A year later and a few bikes on I’ve come across your review which I thoroughly enjoyed and once again it has relit a candle and shone a light on a great bike irrespective of where it’s made. So much so I am currently negotiating a trade in with my local dealer. Thank you 🙏

I bought a 500 Leoncino in 2019. It was a lovely little bike with a very smooth power plant. Alas, the quality was not the best and it had replacement Speedo, brake disc and water pump. When coming to sell I found that not many dealers were interested. Had to part ex at the dealer I purchased it from. Apart from the faults I enjoyed the bike very much. Great video TBW. Thanks for the informative review.

I have one, bouht last year.. Made already only little bit over 2000 km - I know, the price seems to be high compared to "non-chinese-brand-case" bikes, dont have any electronic extra features, besides BBox which not working 😂, there are almost any windshields, cases, bags on the market etc., BUT I love the sound, I love the style, I love the seat/body position, I like the steel frame.. Life is too short for deeper arguments. You like it - you buy it - you enjoy it!

Since 2005 Benelli has been a part of the Qianjiang (QJ) group, the largest capacity manufacturer of motorcycles in China. QJ produces over 1,200,000 vehicles per year at its super modern factory in Wenling, about 250 miles from Shanghai.

Morning Dave. This is very similar in style as the Moto Morini Seiemmezzo which I did a demo on a few months back. I admit, I was tempted with that. The components fitted were outstanding, but depreciation put me off. I think unfortunately sales will struggle until the stigma subsides. If you are the sort of person who keeps a bike for a few years, then these bikes are a fantastic proposition, but if you like to chop and change every couple of years,then you just have to accept the financial hit. Nice review.

I have the standard 800, build quality is superb, every bolt is great quality and all clearly chalk marked as torqued, the little details are what make it (branding on the bars, grips, fairing under the seat). The same comments here where once also made about Japanese motorbikes when they first began importing into UK... But look at them now..... China will hopefully repeat this evolution from cheap bikes, built down to a cost.... Into truly desirable, efficient well built motorcycles... But alas I don't like how the Chinese workers are being exploited. I worry about Chinese politics and the future growth into a truly awesome world power... But you could use the same arguments about the UK and our development ... India also is undergoing the same journey from cheap nasty to well engineered machine... Maybe the Benelli is the bike that changes opinions... Geat review have fun....

I wish the world would stop wondering and liking the TFT screens because the same people will be realising they were duped with the 'lcd watch' effect, as the screens start flickering and dousing out and breaking after a mere few years, and people realise that an analoge speedometer is not only the classic durable eternal solution, but that it is higher quality and longer lasting, and has a lower CARBON FOOTPRINT

They are cheaper in Thailand, but they are also the same as the Harley Davidson x5090 which is now about to be released in south east Asia, using same engine and frame froom Chinese company. China used to make bad quality cheap stuff, now they make good quality cheap stuff. All Ducatis are assembled in Thailand almost, using parts from China and electronics (some) from Pakistan. Harley use China, Apple iPhones came out of China, Most major Motorcycle companies these days have their parts made in China

I learned to ride on a Benelli 350 years ago. It seems like a great bike and your review was very good 👍. The problem I have is that I do not like the Chinese government that controls every company in China. The Chinese navy is now larger than the US navy and we have paid for this military expansion with our purchases of cheap Chinese imports. Decent labour conditions and intellectual property rights are often ignored. I live a lot closer to China than you do in the UK and we do have to be conscious of the balance of power in the world, human nature being what it is. I would not buy a Chinese bike.

My concern at that price is future parts supply. Doesn't matter so much if its a Chinese 125 that'll pay for itself in 2/3 years commuting. But this is a pricy something from somewhere with "Benelli" slapped on it, so like the nearby place selling "Moto" Morini" l just wouldn't be interested, far too risky a purchase compared to a UJM.

I think it's difficult to not buy Chinese based on politics when so many things from tv's to mobile phones to cars and motorcycles have parts made in China. I do think the quality has improved but I notice they still have short service intervals compared to Japanese manufacturers which makes me think that maybe they are not quite as good on the inside. I think Honda have just changed the game with the new Hornet at £6,999. I think the Chinese are going to have to up their game on quality if they seriously want to overcome the hurdles they face in the market. I really like the Benelli 502c it looks like a mini Ducati Diavel but it is the quality questions and short service intervals that have put me off buying one regardless of the low price.

Short service interval is always good for the engine. European brands stretch them too far just like they do with cars. It's an image thing and a smart owner will always shorten the interval especially for oil changes when it's quoted as 10k miles or something unreasonable like that. Cut the interval in half and you can double the life span of the engine. Of course most buyers don't care as they only keep a bike for a short while. But maybe you want to keep one longer - or at least have the option to.
@Grumpy-Goblin
@Grumpy-Goblin 5 ай бұрын
@@varmastiko2908 too far? can you prove that with facts ? I would say I can see no reason why any manufacturer would suggest a service interval that is likely to compromise reliability. It is very much in their interests not to have longer service intervals than necessary. Now I think most people, regardless of mileage intervals, will have their bike serviced annually so even if a schedule says 10,000 miles most people don't do that in a year so they are more likely to be servicing at 5 or 6 thousand once a year. Now if your filtration is good and your engine manufacturing is good and your oil is good that should never cause an issue but many of these Chinese bikes have 3 or 4,000 mile intervals which means servicing twice or 3 times a year which is way more than the Japanese or Europeans so you have to ask yourself why. Many Japanese and European bikes are around with huge mileages on them I have yet to see one of these Chinese bikes with 50 or 60,000 miles on despite their short servicing.

Just because many global companies are sourcing components from China, much like the majority of World governments are now following the Chinese political idiom doesn't make it at all right. Whilst I cannot choose where my necessities are produced or their components sourced, I most certainly can with things I choose to buy. Similarly it is not through people's choice that the governments of this and most other countries, wish to enslave their citizens in a similar manner to China. Yourself having made videos regarding nefarious new restrictions of freedom being forced upon us, might do well to discourage rather than encourage supporting the funding of it.

Whether you like it or not, taking a principled stand when it comes to an easy choice like buying a motorcycle whilst continuing to own and use other Chinese made products/components on the basis of “having no choice” is hypocrisy. Or are you saying that your values are always a function of the degree of difficulty you encounter in upholding them? “That good men do nothing” cannot be selectively applied….as an axiom it is absolute and by implication any person who buys anything with any sort of Chinese provenance is someone who has played a part in supporting the oppressive state….and the same would apply to anyone who has ever put petrol in their motorcycle….oil coming as it mostly does from another oppressive regime (Saudi Arabia)….so where do we draw the line my friend eh?
