Wet and windy. Not sure how much you'll be able to make out of this but it was at the end of a trail in north devon in winter.

Rarely I opened full throttle with my 105 Hp bike. Most of the time people runs at 4.000-4.500 rpm with almost all of the "big whales". So why we pay big money for big powered engines? I'm seriously thinking to an "happy downsizing" in this days...

My goodness "only" 47bhp. When I started motorcycling in the late 60's that was it, not until the Commando came a long with 60bhp was any more on offer. And yes we toured the country, went camping abroad. Did everything, went every where, no niche bikes or marketing. Now I do it all on a 125, including work commute.

Nathan, this is a really great video on the Benelli TRK 502 X - thanks for sharing. I've been waiting for long to see someone test this bike and comment in detail in English. I've had doubts if I should buy this bike because of the "Italian design - Chinese production" trend. You convinced me that the Benelli TRK is a lot of bike for little money, and quality and reliability are not a problem. I am considering to take up motorcycling again after my serious illness two years ago. This is the reason whyI think the Benelli TRK 502 X would be just the perfect start as an adventure bike (and I don't think I'll need a bigger one). As I am 6'4" (196 cm) and almost 100 kilos this bike seems ideal, no problems with the seat height for me. I've been riding enduro bikes all my life anyway. Yes, the under-50-HP engine power gives rise to some doubts, but it should be enough for general and easy-going (even international) adventure touring. As I am a keen e-cyclist too, whenever I ride I take my time... Riding, at least for me, is never about speed. Whoever is happier riding 200 km/h on the German motorways should buy something bigger. I've been riding a Suzuki DRZ 400 S between Germany and Hungary several times. Man, was it a real challenge!! The Benelli should be a much better choice. I also watched you other videos, especially the one about your journey from Australia to the UK and your adventure rides in the US (both riding a small postal Honda CT). This is what makes your video really authentic. You don't seem to be merely a "weekend ride expert" and know exactly what you are talking about. Again, thanks for sharing. Great job. Cheers, Daniel (Germany)

Good review 👍. I brought a 2019 trk 502 x last year based on your previous reviews. It's a lot of bike for the money and I have easily kept up with my friends on larger adventure bikes. The 2020 updates look sensible and really make it one of best entry level adventure bikes....where else can you get one for £5k with all those extras. Reliability is not an issue (see the trk facebook group) and there is a reason why it was the 3rd most popular bike in Italy in 2019. 20L tank and great mpg (@70) make it ideal for solo touring!. Keep up the good reviews

Hi still happy from the bike? Looks pretty good in white. Cheaper than nc500x and centre stand in standard. I only worry about parts. Is there a gear indicator?

A bloke in my condo block in Portugal has one of these. He's had it getting on for two years, and it's been totally reliable. He rides it hard, too. I didn't realise it was so heavy.

Great video, I have been waiting for someone to do a rewiew on in probably English language. And thanks for making my doubts about buying the Benelli TRK 502X less doubtful. I am just waiting for its coming to Denmark 🇩🇰. I think it is coming in Marts.

Bought one couple months ago. Comfortable despite the frightening weitgh, and once you get moving its effortless. Economical enough and high seating position (Africa twin at al easy out of my price range). Only niggle is it vibrates more than my old Kawasaki but nothing to get uptight over. Will see about reliability in the coming months...but 1000miles in I've no real complaints.

@chriserskine5853 жыл бұрын
@@paulcummins5231 I really like it, suits my size 5'11" well, I opted for the road version and not the X version. The finish is good however the brake discs do corrode in places if you don't get on top of it, the plating on the brake lever end is not great, now I'm really being picky here and wouldn't let it put you off, I looked at the cb500x and loved it but it felt small under me, benelli will be a keeper for me just done a 600 mile round trip this weekend and it never missed a beat, 68mpg as well with a 15T front sprocket fitted, it's not perfect but what bike is,there's always a compromise somewhere 😀
@paulcummins52313 жыл бұрын
@@chriserskine585 yes my only concern is the engine and would it do 30.000 plus. I'm 6.1 and this would suit me down to the ground. The snobbery against this bike is horrendous.

Wonder, how does it compare with the V-Strom 650 XT?
@nathanthepostman4 жыл бұрын
That's a very good question. Obviously the benelli is down on power, a touch taller, cheaper. I've never gelled with the 650 vstrom but I know people love them. I think objectively the Suzuki is going to be the better bike but personally I prefer the benelli.

@turningwheels25844 ай бұрын
A bit late but I've just bought one, the sales rep said they did balls up on the weight, the non x is 213kg and the x version is 235kg. They label both at 235kg which is funny as the x version is bigger with added exhaust, center stand, suspension, 19in (front) steel wheels etc....

Unladen weight is given on the official Benelli specification as 213kg not 235kg as you say in video.
@nathanthepostman4 жыл бұрын
I've a sneaky suspicion they've changed dry weight to unladen weight to give the perception of it being lighter. There's no way on earth the bike is 190 or so dry, which it would need to be if the 'unladen' weight was 213. I'd still believe genuine wet weigjt was around 235 and I even think when they first came out that's what they stated it as. They've just massaged the figures to make it appear lighter
@johnastirzaker31094 жыл бұрын
@@nathanthepostman We had all this confusion with the 2018/19 TRK specs and it was acknowledged by Benelli that there had been a mistake in the original spec figures which showed 235kg but in fact when checked was 213kg and that included the luggage carriers. I would think that the 2020 model with no luggage carriers and an alloy luggage rack would be correct at 213kg.
@nathanthepostman4 жыл бұрын
@@johnastirzaker3109 ok that's interesting. Hopefully that's the case and it is only 213. It is a heavy bike tho - for what it is - and it'd be interesting to get it weighed independently. Maybe if someone owns one and wants to put it on a set of scales and let us know
