We’re back for Episode 4 of the Keepers Corner and it’s a belter I must say!
Me and the legend Watto are back to dissect some key moments from the weekend, including Vicario’s positioning for Mohamed Salah’s header and why was he so low?
We also look at Mark Travers fouling Kai Havertz for the Arsenal penalty, Ederson’s unfortunate punch in the City/Wolves match and Thomas Kaminski’s incredible save!
Just to be very clear again…..We aren’t goalie bashing here, we’re just explaining what the goalie could have done differently and discuss if the outcome could’ve been different 🙌🏼

i love this series and it’s such an absolutely necessary one!! over the past week i heard a commentator really going in on a keeper for not making a save and immediately i thought about you guys and this series and whether that was valid or not, and even more so i questioned if the commentator has the first hand knowledge to even be critiquing a keeper like that! and it made me think about how many times i’ve heard a commentator bash a keeper or say that something was their fault when in reality they could’ve or probably were wrong and never had the knowledge of a keeper! and me not being a keeper myself, i just assumed like yeah these guys are commentators they’re professionals,, i know they get stuff wrong sometimes i can see that, but they gotta be mostly right. so i didn’t question it when it came to keepers nearly as much since i myself didn’t have that first hand knowledge of being a keeper,, so thanks boys!! makin me learn and question more!

I love you doing this so much, no other channel in yt does this and I feel it’s so helpful to me and all other goalies out there to analyse some of the best in the world and see what errors they make.

Great point on the first one! When I used to play it was all about watching the touch of the striker and deciding when to come out with hands first and covering your face. I used to love 1 on 1’s and tackling attackers that way!

Whether you think it was a pen or not, go back and watch the game again, in the second half (48 minute), what happened to Havertz was an even bigger pen than the first one, but because he stayed on his feet, he got nothing. Players 'dive' because they're not getting a pen otherwise. In my opinion, one way of limiting dives is by improving referring level, and we all know the level of referees in the PL.

Simply world class! How about a detail analysis of passed keepers ? What made seaman, van der Sar , karn , schmeichel keepers of that elk so good. What if any weakness did they have Maybe even what where some keepers missing to make them on that level. Just an idea great work lads

Should see the Melbourne Victory against Melbourne City game. Victorys Goalkeeper had a blinder of a game. Saving 2 penalties, and countless others.

There’s no point criticizing the gk when Havertz is the one that left his leg out and dived. He stopped mid stride to simulate contact. If he had actually kept running naturally, he would’ve gone past the keeper. This is never a penalty

There is a point because it’s the entire concept of the video 😂 you absolute melt - if you actually listened they talk about timing and angles and using hands as well as legs.

You guys have to have a look at the two Norwegian teams that played each other in the Norwegian championships where Torvastad (div 4.) won against FKH (div 1.) where the div 4. keeper kept a clean sheet across the board and saved all goals even in the penalty shootout ending up eliminating the FKH in an amazing upset.

Only thing about Vicario which gives him the benefit of the doubt is that he prob thinks Salah will head across him so he sets up like that and only realises to late that it's going nearly post so couldn't get a strong enough hand to it 😅

Not sure how feasible it is but I think it would he cool if they would be able to get a goal set up or rent a pitch and use a ball launcher and deflector shield to kinda recreate the situation

It's 100% a penalty. Attacker has no obligation what so ever to get out of the way of the keeper. It's the keepers job to win the ball clean.

Goal keeper's union in full effect, analyse in depth the Bournemouth keeper but fail to mention or gloss over the "foul" on Raya that wasnt a foul! On another note, tell me how a defender must be in a natural body position not to give away a penalty, yet an attacker can do anything to "win" a penalty- what looks natural about the way Havertz body is for the penalty

I feel like if you dont move your leg and someone takes it out, it's a penalty? Havertz had his foot in that position, the natural movement would have been moving his foot forward to take the next step, the keeper may have still clipped that foot.

He deliberately kept his foot low looking for any touch, embarrassing 🤔. I wouldn’t give about 9 out of 10 pens I see given. It’s simply cheating but unfortunately it’s accepted these days 🤷‍♂️

@@sentinel80 but the alternative is he brings his foot up a centimeter and it probably still gets caught. You say embarrassing but the keeper missed the ball, the keeper completely missed? If the keeper wants to fly out and miss the ball, there’s always a good chance of giving a penalty away…

Victim blaming. Keeper made a mistake, Havertz did the crime. If you are in a café and for a moment leave your mobile on the table and someone nicks it, you don't prosecute the owner of the phone , the only person responsible for the crime is the person who takes the phone. The keeper wouldn't have touched him if Havertz ran naturally. In a court of law Havertz's actions could be seen as entrapment, which is illegal. I'm an arsenal fan and fed up of his diving.

Oh my god 😂 it’s a video for looking at goalkeeping techniques and what could be done differently or better - they’re aren’t having a massive go at the keeper they’re just saying with hindsight maybe it could of been done different so it doesn’t lead to havertz having the opportunity to fall over and win the pen

@@Windup-merchant if they kept their thoughts to keeper techniques I'd agree with you, but they didn't. They also judged that the penalty was correctly rewarded, therefore rewarding cheating.
