That is untrue, the Benin artistic skills never had anything to do with Ife that is why even till date, there is no part of Nigeria that can be compared to the binis when it comes to bronze casting. Infact, the prince of Benin that migrated to Ife is probably the reason why you have some traces of those art works there. Ask yourself, if the Benin’s got their art skills from Ife; how come they are not comparable to the Benin works? How come the bulk of these works are from and in Benin? It’s clear enough

WOW!!! I DID MY RESEARCH AND Some of THIS CHECKED OUT FACTUALLY TRUE but or except the part of the Yoruba tribe teaching the Benins about Bronze/Brass casting: that part is BS fallacy. Be careful of getting adulterated stories from some tribalistic jealous ridden lying idiots. How can the master be the student? The Yoruba worked on Terra-cotta and their craftsmanship skills are unique from the Bini own topnotch dexterity. The same Yoruba tribe is actually of the Benin descents because of how the both tribes are relatives and so intertwined with each other, as they both tribes also came long time ago to this their present locations in Nigeria, West Africa from the Houses of Israel/Egypt during or from the time of the tower of the Babel, even as well documented in some royal quarters and the palace in Benin Kingdom. The Benin Edo craftsmanships (smarts/knowledge skills/dexterity) came from the pyramids buildings etc (compare works from around the earth). I was opportune to speak with a viable representative from the largest royal African family in the USA Boston, and the records and research corroborated with viable infallible datas/ pure facts. Reach out to know more and better my dear brother. BLESSINGS BRO. Wow, NOW WE TALKING - I am still going in hard because its been very enriching and richly interesting.

This was a good video. I am author of the books: The Great Wall of Africa: The Empire of Benin’s 10,000 Mile Long Wall, The Real Wakandas of Africa and The Real Vibranium of Africa (by Maurice Miles Martinez). Most people are unaware that African people built a wall before transatlantic slavery in the Benin empire that is one of the most massive structures in the world. At 10,000 miles long, the Great Wall of Africa contains more material than all of the buildings in New York City’s Manhattan. If cut into 1 meter high blocks, it would wrap around the equator more than 65 times! It is arguably the planet’s greatest man-made structure. Yet, it has been ignored by historians. In my book The Great Wall of Africa: The Empire of Benin’s 10,000 Mile Long Wall, I explore the dimensions of the wall, the history of the Benin Empire’s Kings (Obas) and the stolen Benin Bronzes. These treasures that sit in the world’s museums amount to more than $14 Billion. Most people who read this book are left wondering why they never heard about the Great Wall of Africa in their history classes. The world needs more videos on this topic. Maurice Miles Martinez

Its hard to know who got the bronze making technology first. They usually say the Edo's got it from Ife because the Ife bronze arts predate the Benin ones. Also, the igbo bronze works predate them all, but no one claims that Ife got it from the igbo's because there's very little evidence of interaction between both peoples

@@bluesee5500 huh?!?! Who is this dimwit exhibiting her ignorance to the world so shamelessly?! The igbo bronze arts predate the Bini and Ife bronze works by at least 600 years! Please do a little bit of research before coming online and exposing your ignorance. Google is your friend.

Amazing civilization...i did notice a pyramid structure...a sword that looked very similar to the Kemitic(Egyptian) khopesh...and a bronze male statue wearing a head piece resembling the white crown of LOWER KEMET...possible connections?

Great video. Were any writings found from the people of this time, poems, stories, battle or wars accounts to paint a picture of daily life in the kingdom of benin?

The artworks were the photographers and journalists of the era....the artistes who worked exclusively for the Oba (King), The Royal family and important Chiefs did art pieces to commemorate important events such as the king's birthday, the Queen mother's birthday, festivals, battle victories, funerals, visits of dignitaries from other kingdoms etc. The artworks in the British museum and others tell a lot of the history and lifestyle of the Bini people in ancient times...maybe you should pay a visit
