Agreed, I love the quick intro. However when the video is longer (maybe 20 mins or so) I wouldn’t mind the 10-15 second intro, especially if it gives you a little preview of what’s going to happen later.

Great information Ben I never really thought intros were a good thing for our channels. Simple is better

I think in a lot of cases they are not needed but in some cases they can be useful, especially for helping the creator get clarity. but I agree, simple is better!

Thank you Ben! I have actually been thinking a lot about this. I even got a quote to have an intro like your 20-second one made. This was very helpful.

Great presentation, complete with what, why, and how. Includes excellent marketing tips too. Surprising what you can convey in 2 seconds, and it reminds me of the 10-second "Elevator Speech" we practiced in Sales. I loved the MotionVFX specific presets you identified as I'm sure I will find similar effects in the MotionVFX pkgs I have for DaVinci Resolve. Thanks for preparing and sharing!

Awesome! I had a long opener (30 seconds 😬) and recently cut it to 10 seconds. Your video helps me know I need to do more to rethink the intro itself. QUESTION... did changing the CODEC allow you the transparent attribute on your export? Or is it the gray space in the primary storyline? I've always had solid black clip in my blank space and never knew you could export with the transparency! GOLD!!
@benjohnsoncreative
@benjohnsoncreative 2 жыл бұрын
It’s changing the codec that allows the transparency, but you need to make sure you don’t have any footage/background underneath the clip

Yes that video is about 2 years old - things have changed! BUT I still stand by so many of those tips, still really useful for plenty of things (client work, short films, etc). KZfaq viewers just seem to prefer shorter intros or no intros now

Hi Ben, I LOVE your content. I am wondering how do you create content the way this video is. What I am asking especifically is how do you share your screen, and then have your face tutorial in the circular video on the bottom right. It looks SO AMAZING!!! Please, TEACH ME!!!

soo informative. I have question though. when you use a template into or any other template, there would be other creators using it right? Won't it become annoying for subscribers as they would have seen that intro already in some other channel?
@benjohnsoncreative
@benjohnsoncreative Жыл бұрын
I’ve never ran into this issue - the templates with MotionVFX are so customizable that it would be a slim chance to have it look 100% like someone else’s

- If an intro feels like an intro, it's too long - 99.99% of videos do not need them - If you're sat there thinking you're the 0.01%, I'll almost guarantee you aren't The other thing that kills things for me, is when someone has titled their video well and has expanded on what's in the video in the description. Then the first section starts and it's "In this video I'm going to blah blah blah..." Drop that crap, get straight to the content ffs

An intro should at most be a thesis statement. A condensed package that lets the viewer know what content is on the video so they can choose to watch it or click off. Otherwise, for most types of video, the title is sufficient. I already know what I’m expecting from the video since I searched for it, and the relevant title made me click. A three-minute intro is wasting my life
