This entertaining programme shows performances from Benny Goodman and his band, with some of their all time favourites. The show Benny Goodman's final concert at the Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen, Denmark. Featuring well-known classics, including 'Lady Be Good,' 'If I had You' and 'The World is Waiting For The Sunrise.' There are also two guest appearances from Svend Asmussen and Jimmy Maxwell.

My dad used to record him and he always told me that Benny was a perfectionist like Frank Sinatra. They both DEMANDED perfection of anyone who played with him.

I started collecting his records at age 17. I am now turning 83 this year and I was excited to see (and hear) so much of his music on KZfaq. What a fabulous artist.

Бени Гудман - первый джазовый музыкант, на концерте которого в Москве мне удалось побывать. Было это очень давно, кажется, в году 1955. С тех пор я влюблен в этого музыканта в его мастерстсво, манеру исполнения.

Vi voglio confessare che ho 79 anni (sono nato nel 1933 il 9 dicembre ) e ascoltando Benny per la prima volta mi sono così innamorato che ho comprato due clarinetti in sib e sto iniziando ad imparare a suonare il clarinetto. Sono un pazzo? Non credo Inizio a scoprire un mondo meravigliosamente bello . Grazie artisti del mondo.

Esta es la última presentación de Benny antes de su muerte, y éste es el mejor guitarrista acompañante de Jazz que escuché en mi vida. El violinista es buenisimo y el resto es de lo mejor ....... el uruguayo.

In 1981, Benny Goodman appeared at the tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen, Denmark. It was billed at his last performance, but it wasn't. His final concert was held at the State University of New York in Purchase, N.Y. in January 1986. Goodman was joined at the Tivoli by Svend Asmussen, Charly Antolini, Don Haas, Jimmy Maxwell, Harry Pepe and Peter Witte. This performance was recorded on September 4th 1981.

100% respect for mr. goodman, his clarinet sound is phenomenal, even when reaching the 4th octave, which usually sounds bad, and makes his songs seem easy

No termino de admirar la carrera musical de este gran intérprete del swing, jazz y todos los ritmos a los cuales quiso mostrar al mundo, inclusive música docta. La música de Goodman es para conocedores y que tengan además, una gran sensibilidad y buen gusto. es música popular selecta, magistralmente ejecutada. Dorados años treinta y cuarenta.

One never tires of listening to Goodman and I have been doing that since the late 1940's.I stll have not heard a better jazz clarinet player than Benny.We are indeed fortunate that with todays technolgy, we can watch and listen to these giants of jazz.And thanks to the people who upload these videos!

I think guys like Artie Shaw and Pete Fountain could give him a good run, but what set Goodman apart was how smooth he was. He was so warm and flowed between notes seamlessly.

@@littlethuggie I love both Fountain and Shaw, but in terms of musical creativity and clarinet tone, they are no match for BG. Listen to Goodman's small band records of the 20ies and 30ies which contain his most inventive solos. Later on, he played the stuff he knew the audience would like and would pay for. Like many men who had had dirt-poor childhoods, he valued money. But even late in his career, he very seldom played bad.

I am proud to say I got to play with benny goodman. C.b.s. t.v. in r. I. Ill. Duet pluspiano. What a nice man mr. Goodman was.he took a ekght year old kid andplyed in my city what a total thrill plsying together. I was atracted To clarinet becsuse I listened to benny and gene krupa. This is one of my greatest memories.

We played almost 45 min..m I wanted some of the great singin high notes benny was famous for but he thought I was too young at eight... One great thing happened as a result of our meeting at c. B. S. T v..I got to buy bennys clarinet at 18.. selmer wow what a axe.. singin an powerful... I got the right mouthpiece..it jacked me up ...wow.. my buffet clarinet I got at 7yrs.. old was so inspiering.I loved the sound so.. and the large bore mouthpiece was great...

You can say what you like about Benny. But as a jazz clarinetist he was by himself. He and Artie set the world on fire in their time. I am among millions of others who grew up with him. Jess too was inspirational. Great, great music. Many thanks.

Got to play with benny in 1957 at c.b.s. t.v. on my show in ill. What a trill it was. I got to play with gene krupa ss well. Wow im still gassrd over this memories.

Iwas a eight yr. Old kid gene krupa asked me what I wanted to play..I remmeber saint thomas.. and the beat...so cool.. I had met a d played with sony.on the same t v. Piolet.. my show. Yes at 8 yrs old..gene had a trio for me..we played for 45min.. direct to vhs..I directed produced and camera shot .. conducted interviews and played..clarinet...I wish I could do ot now.what a dream. I asked and recieved.. You dont get anything good in life unlesz you ask someone . Very special that likeres you.. I did ask and the owner of c.b.s. rock island il.l.. said yes.. for resl.. elevan t.v. shows a nd raidio....

On the 9th day of our honeymoon in June, 1967 my clarinet playing wife (whilst she was in high school) and I (also an amateur clarinetist) heard that Benny Goodman was playing that night in the Rainbow Room atop Rockefeller Center. So we got here just before the show started. We slowly nursed our drinks and heard BG play a couple of sets with his combo. He strolled around the room part of the time, stopping in front of our table at one point. A very enjoyable part of our honeymoon, but in truth, not necessarily the most.

У меня был один знакомый музыкант, Сэм Рифман, игравший на кларнете и саксофоне-тенор!- По-моему,Benny Goodman, был именно тем музыкантом, на творчестве которого он и учился играть,и,довольно хорошо играть,потому что я с ним играл в одном коллективе и хорошо знал, что есть что, в музыкальном мирке нашего города Кемерово!- - А то, что исполнял Benny Goodman, и, как исполнял, не имеет даже шкалы сравнения,потому, что он, несравним ни с кем, в своём мастерстве исполнителя и дирижёра, одного из самых лучших джаз-оркестров мира!!
