Thank you for reviewing this I did ask in one of your last videos.. It looks great.. But is it better than the Benq 2710i as I'm a movie buff not bothered about gaming but am on the look out for a short throw. I'm 8ft away and would like to keep a minimum of 120 inch screen

That's great, i didn't like that we had to choose between the tk850/860 and the w2700/2710, for gaming, or accurate movie performance. Even though i expected a higher brightness, than 2.200 ansi, they'll probably be enough, considering the short throw

While having the LED source is better than a lamp in terms of longevity with theoretically 30,000 hours vs 4,000 to 10,000 for a lamp (assuming any of us will be here in 10yrs and nothing else in the LED projector fails in that time) the X500i is 800 ansi lumens less and 400 quid more than than the equivalent Benq TK700STI with the same gaming latency. Not sure where Benq sees this fitting in to their lineup honestly. I'll keep hunting for a TK700STI deal. Great review as always. Cheers.

Personally, I'll always be sceptical of lamp projectors because of how they will die out. The lamp life isn't ideal, but it's fine. But from what I heard, lamp projectors have 2 ways they could die. They could either, Have the picture turn slowly yellow then stop. Or Maybe it blows up. Either way, I would never risk it. Personally, I use the th690st. Sure it's only 1080p. But I never cared for 4k. Plus it has high lumens, low latency, and 3d

Damn! I just did all this work setting my HT in my small room with the HT2150ST and now I just find out about this! It is the "Official", replacement to the HT2150ST, they both have 2200 ANSI lumens, but I hear this one is much brighter, is that true I wonder.

Short throw, i guess... People underestimate the light loss on the way to the screen. Just read today, that a guy gave the Horizon Ultra only 2 stars, partly 'cause it wasn't bright enough for under 2k at 5m distance 😂 Insane... I've noticed it with a cheap chinese one, which looked kinda impressively bright at 55-60 inches, but at 92 inches, it was already washed out and dull... So i guess a shorter throw ratio automatically increase the on-screen brightness by an significant amount

This x500i is 4LED instead of the usual 3LED. It adds an extra Blue LED which makes it about 10-12% Brighter and is supposed to improve color saturation. Also it uses the better .65" DMD Chip instead of the cheaper .47" Chip used in most other midrange projectors.

Hey, isn't it about time that we start seeing sub $250 native 4k, (loud, dim,) budget led projectors popping up? Its basically 2024, In early 2019 you already did a review of a $900 4k projector. what is keeping the price so high? If its a complicated but insightful explanation, maybe its an idea for a future video? I'd watch it 😂 I bought my first native 1080p projector and 120" motorized screen over half a decade ago for less than €200, I would've thought that in this time I'd surely be able to upgrade my projector to a 4k one , but still in 2024 its priced like 4k is something new, and hasn't been around for a decade.

The DLP chip and the light engine and all that is expensive. That's why everything that's sub $300 is single chip LCD and mostly garbage, although the contrast is very good which is interesting.

even i felt the same might be because of the lumens Benq 500i is basically 2200 lumens on the other hand dangbei is 3200 which makes dangbei to outstand.

It's only a very slight improvement to the HT2150ST; nowhere near enough to warrant the $1700 price tag. In some ways, it's even a step backwards, such as the new LED light source that can't be replaced.

@@hakke5969 I've seen some test it to 39ms and others at 50. Sure at 39, I guess it's not terrible. But the contrast isn't bad on the X500i especially in dynamic gamma mode. If it's really at 39ms like one test confirmed, yes I agree for casual games I would choose the C1.
