Easy way to apply Bent Lamination to a custom DIY cedar mailbox post. It was time for a new mailbox post and I decided I wanted it to be unique. In this video I experimented with bent lamination, rustic modern design elements and even made a few mistakes along the way. This being my very first You Tube video, I have learned a lot, and have A LOT more to learn. I know I have much to improve on in video production and my video taking techniques are not quite to my liking. However, I feel accomplished just getting this one posted and being able to move forward from here. You have to start somewhere! So I realize there are problems with the video but I promise they will get better!

It’s really a fairly simple build. If your able to cut the pieces thin enough for the bending it’s super easy. 👍🏼

Nice. Just seen another video where guy made exactly the same type post for mailbox. As an average diyer, i think the other guys way without a nice shop works better for me. but i like yours better.

Great build! I found this video because I’m making something similar shortly. There is just one confusing part, though. Throughout the video there were gaps in between the boards, but when finishing and in the end shot the gaps were filled. Did you cut down filler strips and nail them between the gaps? Thanks so much!

Great video! Did you stain the cedar or just apply exterior urethane? I like the color you ended up with

Thank you. This was actually my first KZfaq video. 😬. I stained it with exterior semi-transparent stain. It was just Thompson’s I believe.

so during the build there are gaps between the boards that go through to the interior of the build. the end result has backing pieces that close that off. where did that happen?

I could definitely build you one but I’m afraid the freight might be a bit prohibitive. It’s pretty big and heavy. 🙏🏼
