Bentley Eight 1984-1992 was a “budget” version of the Bentley Mulsanne, which in turn was a less expensive version of the Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit sedan. These cars were based on the same platform and were equipped with the same 6.75-liter V8 engine with “ample” power with two SU carburetors or Bosch fuel injection (from 1986) and a 3-speed automatic transmission. Visually, the models differed only in the radiator grille: mesh for the Bentley Eight, with vertical slats for the Bentley Mulsanne and in the shape of an ancient temple for the Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit. However, the Bentley Eight had a more modest fabric interior, steel wheels and a stiffer suspension, which provided it with better handling. The car cost around £50,000, which is £6,000 less than the Mulsanne. The version for the US market featured twin round headlights instead of rectangular block headlights. In 1986, the ABS system was included in the package, in 1987 - leather interior and electric seats with memory, in 1990 - automatic ride height adjustment.
