Love my 21A. Bought it years ago after I had to stop a robbery attempt without my carry gun. I beaned the dirtbag over the head with a 1 gallon paint can I happened to be carrying out the back door of our restaurant. Next day, got my Berretta in 22lr. Carry it everywhere.

LOL NICE, I was jogging decades ago at night becz it was way cooler, caught scumbags breaking into cars. Years of training in martial arts I knew how to handle two guys. Followed them until they decided to attack me becz they were sick of running, I knew that they were tiring as well. So I moved to between two cars so only one could come at me at a time. I STEPPED TO THE LEFT AND SWUNG MY RIGHT HAND VERY HARD AND LANDED THE 5 C BATTERY MAGLITE RIGHT ACROSS HIS LEFT TEMPLE.. HE DROPPED AND I THOUGHT DAMN I KILLED HIM. HE WOKE TO SEE HIS PAL RUNNING AS FAST AS HE COULD AWAY SCREAMING F THIS. I gave a fake chase where I said the only words of the whole incident ( I was silent for the fear factor effect, they would think who is this nut case) I yelled "WHEN I CATCH YOU I AM GOING TO KILL YOU" I was just bs, but I wanted to lol at them later even more. I guarantee i fractured his eye socket or worse. The old maglite was about 16-18 inches and swung perfectly due to ergonomics. Sadly the batteries leaked an corroded the insides away and they no longer seem to make the model. (now watch and lets see if some pos losers come along and call me and you liars, most likely not on this channel but I have been called a liar from this story by the typical do nothing losers we have in the world now) GOD BLESS THE USA

My Dad purchased a 21A in the mid 80's and it has been fired more times than I would venture to even estimate. We lived in the country and this little pistol was fired almost daily. In general, when the pistol is clean and lubed, it functions flawlessly even with bulk ammo. Super easy to use with the tip up barrel. I recently purchased the new model 21A Covert with a 1/2x28 threaded barrel and really nice checkered walnut grips. So far with CCI mini-mags, it has been very reliable. The action seems a lot stiffer than the old 80's 21A. I'm hoping the Covert's action will limber up over time and be as silky smooth as the older gun. Firing the Covert model with a suppressor installed is a really cool treat.

One shot into body mass from a .22 will definitely ruin somebody's day. Three or four probably will ruin their survival chances. A shot to the head or heart and they aren't going anywhere in s hurry. Advantages of that little gun, less distraction from noise for the shooter, low recoil, light and quick handling, inexpensive ammo so regular practice won't ruin the bank balance. For daily carry I reckon this is a better bet than a 9mm. My uncle always dispatched his hogs with one shot of .22 high velocity. Don't ever underestimate the lethality of a .22.

I gotta say the 22LR is surprisingly loud out of a 2.4" barrel. The Remington Subsonic, which won't cycle this pistol, is barely tolerable and will induce tinnitus. I put my ears on for the mini mags. Those work wonderfully.

In a self defense scenario getting a near perfect location shot or two off is a lot more difficult than shooting paper targets that aren't shooting back at you or about to eviscerate you with their blade. The same imprecision also applies if you have a larger caliber, perhaps even more, however a 9mm HP has a lot more wound channel capacity and stopping power, and one shot may be all that is necessary to stop the assailant. That being said, not having to deal with any recoil with a 22 is a big plus in that situation. Either way I don't want to be on the business end of any firearm, but the larger calibers do have a much better chance of stopping or instantly slowing down an attacker with just one shot. But I still love shooting 22's and have owned them all my life, though I don't have one of these, I'd like one.

@@wilycoyote9091 I've never been on the two way range with real ammunition. So I can't speak to the stress that induces. I have been on a two way range with sims. While they don't break the skin, they can give a nasty welt. Eye protection is essential. The situation is very dynamic as both you and your advisory are moving. Point shooting skills come into play. Interestingly enough, aimed fire practice at both stationary and motion targets that are not shooting back at you can actually improve your point shooting skills. Take this with the appropriate grain of skepticism as this is the Internet after all. I'm just putting this out there. My experience is that ability to deliver rapid controlled fire is very useful. I am not any sort of expert marksman, so I think my experience will translate to the everyman.

I've got the Beretta Model 21A. It's definitely ammo sensitive. I recommend staying with round nose only (copper plated preferred), *High Velocity* cartridges. Test to find out which one works best in your pistol. Odd thing is, that Beretta in the *Owner's Manual* (p.9), states: >> *Standard Velocity* rounds will typically function more efficiently than High Velocity rounds and with less wear to the weapon.

You should only have to rack the slide to feed a round after having manually removed a bad one from the chamber. I have a matte-black 21A that I've only tried once and it is not at all reliable with the MiniMag solids, the only ammunition I had with me. I bought it used and don't know its history. I should probably try some Stingers; if it works with them, that will be an indicator that the gun simply wasn't shot much, not enough to be broken in yet.

Bought one in June. It broke after 3 trips to the range (slide disengaging while cycling when fired). Sent it to Beretta in mid July. It’s now November, and I’m still waiting for it to come back, and have no idea how much longer it will be. Beretta’s customer service is a DISASTER!! I called at the end of September and was on hold for FOUR HOURS (had the call on speakerphone while I was working). After four hours exactly to the minute, their phone system disconnected the call! Not sure if I’ll keep it when it finally gets back, or trade it in for something from a company that actually cares about its customers. I know one thing for sure…I’LL NEVER BUY ANOTHER BERETTA AGAIN!

if a person does decide to carry it and only has one magazine a option is a pouch on the hip like a Crosman pellet pouch wich is velcro holding for closing and about $5, it holds 100 count 22 lr, think of it as a "dump pouch" wich older police officers carried with revolvers, but right side up, the advantage is wearing it in public it doesnt draw attention and if say you would get in a bad situation and you have good cover 100 rounds is available to refill single stack magazine or single load to return fire, sounds funny but depending on your tactics and stealth you just may be the first one man army with a mouse gun in a mall or if anything you have people in a safe area like a bathroom you can return fire and hold that possition at least and not be a easy target, the reason i bring this up is because what we learn from history is people doing amazing things with limited resources both in battle and on the streets, if we train with limited resources or in this case with every weapon we have including a mouse gun then we are only helping our mind set being preparred to know what to do if a situation should come up, whats good about a 22 is the very large amount of ammo you can have with you in public, the massive volume of ammo you can carry with comfort makes up for its low muzzle energy, also fast accurate follow up shots on vital areas like the heart, and the ramen noddle bucket hitting that narrow band between eyes and ears, another thing about 22 pistols is long accurate shots, if say you had a full size 22 you carry, because you have so much ammo like the 100 count pouch, you have plenty because the mag in your gun and spare mags are with you any way and if you consider the 22 buckmarks 10 round mags they are very thin and putting 2 together they are in size similar to a double stack mag of another full size gun in 9 mm and other calibers so the space they take up is minimal, for example i would carry my browning buckmark 22 open carry with jacket or vest cover, with 4 extra mags comfortably on hip, one in the gun 4 on the hip and a 100 round pouch, thats 150 rounds of fire power. so maximum accuracy, fast accurate shot pacement, and more ammo makes up for its 80-117 foot pound of energy i have measured, with good ammo like CCI maximag 40 grain means hardly any or no malfunction clearing and even if a malfunction thats why we train with 22 dummy rounds indoors to tap and rack but also outdoors using bulk ammo to force a malfunction eventually to practice tap and rack, 22 pistols we fire more ammo thus we clean more and lube more, a 22 in the morning when we first leave home needs to have been cleaned and lubed the night before, i never did hear a gun tell me it was cleaned to much or that it didnt like a light lube all the time

Except just to have in the collection, which I agree with, this gun has no place otherwise. Beretta 21A: 7+1 and 11.5 ounces. S&W 43c: 8 rounds, 11.5 ounces. Equal. In a caliber like 22lr, if you decide to carry it, with the same size, same weight and same capacity, which would you rather have?

The pistol is a Double/Single action blow back semi automatic. Flipping the tip up lever will throw a case out of the chamber. Extractor is not needed. Double/Single action means you can just pull the trigger like a revolver and it will cock and shoot or Single shoot from the hammer back position.

Good videos, and even better out-takes 🙂 By all reports: 1) More people have been killed by 22cal than by any other caliber; 2) After hitting an aggressor with a 22 slug, there are zero reports of returned fire killing the defender with the 22. This is huge- One 22 slug will stop the scenario in virtually all cases. This is a very good thing. 3) VERY FEW videos go into proper shot placement dependent on the scenario- Do I always want to immediately use a kill shot/head shot/center mass? Hopefully NOT, UNLESS I'm in a proper gunfight. A couple 22LR in the right shoulder, or mid-thigh, or pelvis will hopefully keep me out of court if deadly use of force was clearly not warranted. I think a 22LR in the femur would stop the action in most cases :-). Sure, I've got a CZ P01 close by, but for general CC and hiking and being wary of todays random psychotic shooters, my 21A covert is a close and comforting friend...
@douglassmith3901
@douglassmith3901 2 жыл бұрын
Just what is a proper gunfight? I've never heard the term. I think most people would agree, or at least the smart ones, that unless deadly force is clearly warranted then exactly zero shots should be fired and/or placed on any parts of the body. If deadly force is not clearly warranted and you shoot and even miss you'll probably be arrested and charged with a minimum of aggravated assault up to attempted murder. If you hit them the charges will probably be more severe. Never shoot unless your life or someone else's life is in danger. After all, we do want to keep all of our gunfights proper; manners you know.

I had a little 21A some years ago and like a Dumbas* I gave it to my ex because I wanted her to have at least SOMETHING to carry and make sure she could protect our daughter if the need arises. She wouldn't carry her S&W Model 19 with a 2 1/2" barrel in .38/.357 as it was pretty large for her Liliputian frame but things went seriously south once the paperwork was finalized and I regret every buying her ANY gun. But I miss that M19 and the Itty Bitty Beretta, I really do. My ex? Not so much.

A mag dump from a Beretta 21A in the moment of duress = dead. I love my small calibers. Nobody likes to get shot. Nobody likes too leak blood. A few rounds from a .22 works VERY well. Try doing some really up close tests (3 to 5 feet) from that 21A on a 4x6 wooden post. Chews it up BIG TIME.
