I have this rifle chambered in the 7 mm rem mag. It is a pleasure to shoot! Very accurate with a couple of different bullets. I haven't tried many because I haven't been able to find any ammo since November, but I'm confident that will change. I love the gun. Everything you said about it is spot on. Good review.

I bought a Ridge in 243 in 2019. It easily beats the 1 moa guarantee. One thing I really like about it is the standard pillar bedded stock. Torquing the action screws is very positive and they tend to stay tight. I think these rifles are great value.

I bought an AR years ago when you could only get the 450 bushmaster in that platform. When looking for a bolt gun to replace the AR the guy at the gun store recommended a B14 Ridge. I knew little of Bergara rifles then. After some research I went ahead and bought the B14. Mine will shoot one inch groups all day with my pet hand loads. I really like how the rifle feels and handles. Looking forward to this deer season to see how it performs in the woods.

New subscriber and love your stuff! Recently purchased a Bergara B14 Timber in .308 and did ultimately achieve sub-MOA. HOWEVER, it took a while. I followed the conditioning instructions out of the box without exception. Will save the details, but I was very surprised at how sensitive the rifle is to different factory ammo, esp at the same grain wt. I sincerely wanted to love this rifle, but my Ruger Am .308 shoots better. Thanks again for your vids - great stuff!

I have a Ridge, but not the wilderness series. I love it except for the lack of rise on the comb as she mentioned. Wish it had a Monte Carlo comb on it. I added a pad to mine because I can't go any lower with my rings. It'll shoot 5/8 if I do my part and have a feeling it'll do better with a better shooter behind it. You do a great review! I have a 7mm-08 Ridge ordered. I like the integral recoil lug in the receiver. Most less expensive rifles have the recoil lug in the stock and then the lug fits in a notch in the receiver. I could not find a Wilderness model but I agree with you, that would be worth the money. The plain Ridge model does have a threaded barrel and I will be using my can on it. The only thing that makes me sad is that we used to have a very well Remington rifle in this country - no longer.

I do own that rifle but the 2020 model. Right now my two absolute favorite gun makers are Bergara and Tikka. The former is built like a tank. They are heavy but because of that they are stable and the barrels can take repeated shots without hurting accuracy. The Tikka is also a high quality gun *but* it is made for the mountain or backpack style of hunting where you will be hiking for many miles in the wilderness with the rifle on your pack. Doing something like that while lugging around a B14 Wilderness Terrain in 300 Win Mag is incredibly painful. The Bergara rifles are just too heavy for that type of hunting. I would say that hunting from a stand or a blind is where the Bergara really shines. Both Tikka and Bergara are awesome gun makers but they each cater to a different niche market. I own several different rifles from each and love all of them. It's true that these are not budget guns and I am ok with that. When it comes to my firearms I want the best I can afford.
@ReviewThisThing

Thank you, Juan, for watching and for commenting! I’ve heard great things about Tikka as well but haven’t had the chance to try one yet. I also haven’t tried a Wilderness Terrain, but they are about 2 pounds heavy than the Ridge, so I could definitely see that being a problem. Subscribe while you’re here, and keep watching! Thanks again.

I agree with your assessment of the Tika. I have a T3X Lite Compact (with the spacer installed) in 223 Rem with a 20" barrel and it is really handy. Ms. ReviewThisThing, you might want to look at the compact model. Also agree the Tika is more modestly built; it does not have an integral recoil lug. But mine is still very accurate.

I have the basic Ridge in 6.5 cm and love it! My gun shot .625 to .75 moa with some hand loads I just threw together to get the barrel broke in. I have a feeling this gun will end up shooting under .500 once I've developed the right load. Someone in the comments said why not just find an older Rem 700. I have a older 700 BDL in .270 win and it is a tack driver and is/was my favorite up until now. On the Bergara, the action is a lot smoother and has a lot better trigger than the 700. This gun just feels very solid all around. I would rate this gun somewhere between Weatherby's Vanguard and their Mark 5's. The one thing I would like to see them change is the butt stock. It needs a higher cheek rise . I had to add a pad to mine to get the correct cheek weld. Monte Carlo style stock would be great.

I did find the short actions like my new 308 was a little tedious to load from the top BUT….. just open the floor plate and lay them in and close it.. you’re done. Much easier.. or just order the magazine conversion kit and rock a removable magazine!! not a deal breaker at all for me. Love my Bergara B14 hunter in 308 win.. and SUB MOA accuracy..great review..

So I have that exact same rifle also in 6.5 Creedmoor but I think mine might be a model year earlier. The stock on mine is a painted on camo pattern more like what you find in the HMR Wilderness series. I like the feel of the gun and the construction of the gun. It's by far the best bang for your buck (no pun intended) considering all the features and craftsmanship you're getting. I also own a B14 Hunter Wilderness in 308 Win. Very similar design but missing the threaded muzzle and brake. I took it out recently to the range and I can confirm what others have said about having difficulty getting the cartridge to seat well in the magazine. After my practice session at the range I pulled the stock and performed a close inspection of the magazine. As it happens the metal spring appears to be much stiffer than it should be at least when compared to my Howa 1500 also in 308 Win. So I purchased some dummy rounds and practiced cycling the dummy rounds through the action and chamber. After about 10 tries the spring loosened up a bit and I had less problems feeding rounds. I also loaded the magazine with the dummy rounds(A-Zoom brand purchased on Amazon) and left it in the gun safe for a month or two. That went a long way to removing the stiffness in the spring mechanism of the magazine. I should also mention that my guns use a leupold rail instead of bases. So that might have contributed to the magazine loading and feeding issues at the range. With bases you have more clearance available to get your fingers in there and align the rounds properly in the magazine.

I have a Bergara B14 Ridge in 7mm-08 and it is very, very nice. Very accurate. I think it's a bit on the heavy side; the Ridge has a heavy profile barrel. The hunter model is lighter if that's what you want. You can also get as an add-on a box magazine kit if you don't like the hinged floor plate. I would say it's an MOA rifle.

Great review as always. I saw in the comments that someone already asked a similar question. Would you consider doing a head-to-head comparison between the CVA cascade and Bergara's B14? I simply do not see enough difference to worry about, yet one is several hundred dollars more? Thanks!
@ReviewThisThing
@ReviewThisThing 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you, Bo! So there are a lot of things I like better about the Cascade: I’m short, so I really like the adjustable LOP. I really like the flush mount mag. I can have some trouble loading from the top. The price point on the Cascade that is cerakoted is pretty doggone impressive. Have to upgrade to the Wilderness Ridge to get that. The triggers are the same, I think, and the Cascade one is easily adjusted without taking the stock off. 🤔🤔 Don’t get me wrong, I also LOVE my Ridge. It is a SWEET shooting gun, too. The Cascade just does a lot more for me. One difference is that the Ridge is on a Remington 700 platform, so there are more easily accessible customization options. The trigger on the Cascade is a Remington 700, but the rest is based on a Savage platform. We’ve got SEVERAL Cascade videos here, too, if you haven’t watched them. I’ll share the playlist here

I have the B-14 ridge with a 22" barrel, the very first 3 shots were within an inch, no break in or nothing, straight out of the box, put a scope on it and it performed absolutely well. In my opinion it could use a sturdier stock but that'd probably add weight. Ps: Subscribed

The 6.5 is significantly less than a .308 or .270 in my opinion. If you watch the Area 419 brake video kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hcuBY8t11ta2aXU.html you can see the Cascade .308 recoil with and without a brake. So which would you recommend? The cva cascade you reviewed or this bergara? The regular ridge is about the same price as the cva.
@ReviewThisThing
@ReviewThisThing 2 жыл бұрын
That is a fantastic question, Matthew. So...things I like better about the Cascade: (1) Adjustable LOP - because I need a short one. Not as big a deal if you don’t. (2) The flush mount magazine. The Ridge has a drop mag. I have some difficulty loading from the top, and the Cascade mag is VERY easy to load. (3) Price - there’s still about a $150 difference between the camo Cascade and the B14 Ridge (4) Cerakote - to get cerakote on the Ridge would be about $250 more. (5) Easily adjustable trigger - you don’t have to take the stock off to adjust it. The new Wilderness Ridge may have this, too, but I’m not sure. Things I like better about the Ridge: (1) The barrel is a bit bigger and heavier - feels a little “better made” but not necessarily true (2) Built on a Remington 700 platform - so finding parts for it is very easy. If you want to customize it. It’s pretty hard finding the 20 MOA rail for the Cascade. (3) Bolt - the bolt on the Ridge is a bit smoother than the Cascade, but once we cleaned it and oiled it, it works great now, too. So, Matthew, I haven’t really answered your question. If I’m buying another, it would probably be a Cascade because of the things I mentioned. But, if those things aren’t that important to you, I’d go with the Ridge. They’re both sweet, and you can’t go wrong with either. Both are made by the same parent company, and their customer service is second to none! I hope that helped!

Just stumbled across these rifles also. After doing my research. Its a Remington 700 with a bergara barrel. So the price point is for the barrel. Just like many other industries. The rifle industry is a mix match of parts from all the bolt action suppliers. Each having a pro and cons that are the same as the other brand X. For the hefty price of the factory improved stock with a tactical grip and drop out mag. Your well over $1000. If your using it simply as a hunting rifle. It is well over priced. You can get sub moa out of $300 rifles. Or buy a 20 year old Remington 700,710, or 770 and have the same results for about $250. For $1000 you can get a AR platform that does just as well. Thanks for the review from your perspective. They are quality rifles. But who wants to support Remington and a Italian made barrel producer.

Hello, Tom. Thank you for your input as well! I actually sold a Remington 700 I had had for years after I bought this one. In my opinion, this is a much better gun with a significantly smoother action than my old one. And, of course, the barrel is better as well. I think the barrels are actually made in Spain. And the parent company for Bergara Rifles (BPI Outdoors) is in Georgia. I don’t claim to know a ton about rifles, but I know I like this one 😊 Thanks again, Tom.

Your understanding of stock fit exceeds most. Size of the objective on the scope will also affect fit because it may require higher rings which will cause you to lift your head and not get a good cheek weld. Bottom line - stocks should all be adjustable for the best fit possible.

Not to be critical, and no offense intended, but a claim of a 1.1" group including a mid three shot scope adjustment is basically useless in sharing the rifles accuracy. Clearly, a 3-5 shot group without any sight adjustments would have been a true testament to this rifles accuracy potential. You could say the rifle shot a .6" two shot group, but this is to few shots to prove reproducibility. Did the rifle consistently shoot to the point of impact after your scope adjustment, or was the third shot pulled? For what it's worth, as a viewer of this video I would have no idea.

1 MOA for 3-shot groups isn't impressive at all. My Tikka CTR averages under 0.5 MOA for 5-shot groups. I've even shot in the 10s with it (for 5-shots). My B-14 HMR in 308 on the other hand is averaging ~1.1-1.2 MOA with the best handloads I've been able to work up for it. I wouldn't have a huge problem with the poor precision if they didn't call it a "match" rifle. You won't be winning any matches shooting 1.2 MOA groups. Anyway, I would never buy another Bergara.
