Season One comes to an end with this episode. We visited Monemvasia Island and then took a long trip back to Antalya. We enjoyed the three weeks onboard B92 Papillon, which was going on her maiden voyage. She was almost perfect - no leaks, no breaks, and the 6-meter waves during this part of the trip did not affect passengers' comfort. B92 truly is a Bering-built home-on-the-water.
Monemvasia brought back many memories for Alexei, who visited the island 20 years ago. He did not think about Bering in 2004 and now could reflect on his state of mind now and then. The most moving moment of the visit came when he found a beautiful icon he had also seen twenty years ago. Openly displayed in a cave monastery, it has lost some colors but has spiritually connected past and future.
Returning to Antalya, Papillon stopped at the Turkish village Çıralı to meet Alexei’s friends and discuss vacation on a yacht compared to the regular on-shore stays. The perspective you get by traveling onboard is different - and worth the little price difference. This trip was an excellent example of the advantages of signing up for the Bering Charter program - short-term rent of a luxury cabin with excellent service and the ability to travel as you wish.
Still, getting back home is sweet.
Alexei and the Bering team will stay off the boat for a while, reflecting on this first season of Bering Life and planning to return with more itineraries and great places to share with our viewers. Stay with us, as our journey has just started.
