Haven't used the Gulp Crabs, but there sand fleas are good to go. Pompeo, Reds, Snook, Mangrove Snapper. Old school, know where you're fishing, 90% of fish in 10% of the water. Soft, and hard baits to cover water if I am in a new water in the Glades. Thanks for taking your time and advice for us. Good fishing and stay safe out there.

The gulp sand fleas are really good. I like using them like live ones or using a jighead and dragging them backwards. Best jigheads I’ve found are the savage gear ones they make for the savage gear crabs. It makes the bait stand but while dragging

My 10 year old picked these out for himself and you’re right, I didn’t know how to rig them! We will try them out on our next pier fishing trip; I think that setting should be a slam dunk.

Gulp peeler crabs are definitely a tougher plastic that the regular gulp. Not sure why but they do work great on a jighead. Especially a standup jighead like the savage gear one or some of the knockoff ones on Amazon. They even make a smaller version that fits a gulp sand flea perfectly!

Also work well under a popping cork.

@@christophercook723 popping cork is a technique its designed to make a popping sound every time you jerk it. Mimics feeding fish on the surface then the see the bait attached to it and take it

I did exactly what you mentioned, bought the peelers and never tried them ;). But I do love Gulp. The jerk shad is my current go to. But I have a rule..... once a pack is opened it never goes back into my tackle box or dry bag. Use them or toss them in the trash at the end of the day. Once opened they always seem to leak and while the smell is only slightly off putting when fresh it gets bad fast. Great video, going to crack the seal on my peelers this weekend.

Good god that gets expensive. Get a Plano Bait Locker... unless you throw your tackle bag up and down the pavement, they dont leak.

100% agree Tony, gulp products durability has gone to sh!t over the last 5 years, like rigging wet toilet paper. But these crabs are like the ones I got in the navy back in 02... wicked tough.
@tonyacevedo3149
@tonyacevedo3149 5 жыл бұрын
Yep it seems like just over the past year or 2 the durability has gone downhill. Ever since the packaging changed.. They used to come in clear packaging, and when they switched to the white packaging the durability changed with it. The shrimp and crabs seem to still be tougher than the jerk shads though.

I love the 4" swimming mullet, but I cant pay that kinda of money for 4 baits that just fall apart after one fish. Try a Paul brown lure man things are so simple they are perfect.

Can you use a sinker at base of line when surf fishing? If so, the crab will not be at the end of the line so how will it 'walk' on bottom?
@tonyacevedo3149
@tonyacevedo3149 5 жыл бұрын
When surf fishing, the scent from the lure can be the biggest factor to draw in those fish. Crabs also get washed around by the surf and currents, so it isn't as unusual for a fish to see a crab floating around in the surf than they would inshore on a flat.

The thing with fishing, you can never say never. I have had sheepshead hit a Gulp Jerk Shad. If using the crab, I would try a size smaller. These are the 2inch that are shown in the video.

When I am finished fishing for the day, I go to the garage fridge, grab a can, drink , then in goes my soft plastics in the vege crisper. I have noticed that life duration on many soft plastics is far longer than normal, due to heat in a garage or shed. Try it yourself..🙄
