I love Berlin but most of that is not live. The bass, drums and most of the keys are pre programed.

@@donutcookiepie Most of this is in fact live. The drums are played live to a click track. The bass is a synth, being played by John Crawford. The synth patches are indeed pre-programmed, like a guitarist might pre-program an effect, but that does not mean they are not played live.

great band great material and a hell of a show, but honestly i think Terri was a little too active. im not really a fan of the obviously sort of pre rehearsed whole bit during Sex, i would much rather she spend more time at the mic looking out into the crowd where i could just stand and make starry eyes at her. its one of the things i dislike about the hip hop and pop performers, they go onstage with this whole crew of back up dancers and choreography. and im here to see a band not a show.

Yes, you know you're a fan when you appreciate the songs that weren't the biggest hits. Interestingly, I now think On My Knees from the Transcendance album is their best piece ever. I would not have expected their musicianship to improve so dramatically over time--they were always very good--but that song is a masterpiece.

A friend who lived in Simi Valley at the time said Berlin played at--I believe it was--his community college. That would have been '83, I think; it was certainly before "No More Words". Lucky dog.

Thank You !! I wracked my brain trying to remember the name of that Showtime series. The one thing that stands out in my mind is that when one band would finish, the stage would rotate and the next would start immediately. Plus it was live, and drove a nail in the coffin of the thought that "New Wave" and "Synth Bands" couldn't replicate their songs on stage. We watched it over and over, and this episode with Berlin was one of my favorites.
