It was in 1971 that Jim Morrison reached the summit! With 6 years of intensive career, 6 albums and 200 concerts, nothing seemed to stop the emblematic figure of the Doors.
And yet, the man we called the Dionysus of rock met a tragic end. Illustrated by numerous testimonies and archive images, we return with this report on the last days of this rock icon, consumed by the torments of a star's life.

@@johnsmith-wk2tb 2006....and it has a few factual errors. Morrison did not suddenly meet up with 2 "unknown street musicians" while in Paris to record a spontaneous session of drunken mania. It has been revealed that the recording was done in Los Angeles in February 1969 & both Michael McClure and Paul Rothchild can be heard on the tape.

@@dondamon4669 There's all sorts of alcoholics and all sorts of NON-alcoholics. Free spirits find an escape and a door in alcohol or drugs. It literally opens mental and spiritual receptacles. Portals to different and wider existential realms. MORE REAL. Intelligent and superior people know that "NORMAL LIFE" is an illusion, a scam. Precisely, like having "girlfriends", "kids" and even fornication is just a biological imperative. That's why stupid and inferior people are obsessed with sex and pornography. The material realm is a SCAM AND A MATRIX. And normal human beings are sheep. Music fused with alcohol is absolutely amazing. The problem is, alcohol is dangerous, and in the long term, the medicine becomes poison.

Mental illness strike the wealthy and artistic just as hard or harder than any. I always felt Mr. Morrison was on a different plane than the rest of us. As a lukewarm fan in my teens I never appreciated his music as much as I do now. I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder at 36. It was sad when he passed away far too young; but his struggles were over and he is now at peace. 🌹

Very very well done documentary. To hear the stories from John and Bill Siddons, plus, all the accounts of the various Parisians that were present during Jim's time in Paris really hammer down what might have truly happened with 'ol Jim. 😢😢😢

In 1998 I went to Pere Lachaise on a rainy day, weak from food poisoning the night before. The Morrison family had had Jim's actual body moved to an anonymous tomb but I wanted to see the place of pilgrimage. I couldn't find it. Pere Lachaise is a virtual city of the dead. I wandered around, unable to sit down for the puddles of water. Exhausted, leaning against a tomb, I looked up to see between my outstretched fingers a graffito: "Where the f*ck ARE you, Jim?"..... Eventually I found it. There was nothing left of all the tokens left by adulation, the statues and flowers, nothing but a puddle of water with a cigarette butt floating in it. He lives in his legacy. Thanks for this excellent documentary.

Tres bon docu, merci.

I grew up listening to the doors. I got hooked on their music when I was about 10. This is definitely the best documentary I’ve seen. Now it makes sense about his death. The person who touched the bath water and said it was warm. Warm water had to be added before people arrived because Pamela said that she saw him in the tub at night before she went to bed. The water should’ve been cold in the morning.i believe he was taken from the nightclub, back into his apartment. The club was scared of being closed down. And the dealers were shitting bricks. Jim was in poor health but listening to what other eyewitnesses have said. An autopsy should’ve been performed. I know some people will say,it doesn’t matter now. Well it matters because it’s not just a documentary. Listening to my favorite band and reading Jim’s poetry. Gives me a better idea on what really happen. R.I.P Ray And Jim.

the doc should have noted that if his death was at 5 then around 8 or 9 the water should have been cold. and yes, now i know Pam lied her ass of bc she knew she would be the one to blame since she was the one who started with heroine.

I feel your love for Jim and The Doors, i feel exactly the same; i wish that damn fool James Douglas Morrison was still alive...but, no, he had to kill himself at 27. I am from Porto, Portugal, too, i am 70 now,and back when i was 13 or so, i heard one night on the radio a song where a guy was singing "WAITING FOR THE SUN"; i just could not believe that such a beautiful song, magical, out of this world lol, even existed, had never heard it before, and then the announcer said "waiting for the sun by the doors...; that was all i needed, DOORS, next day i was out shopping; the rest...well i even went to America in 1980 as a tourist for 1 month, and ended up staying there for 18 years; my 2 daughters born there, (been here since young;); The song Gloria must be about someone special he met, that's for sure GLORIA, song by The Doors Did you hear about my baby? She come around She come round here, the head to the ground Come round here just about midnight She makes me feel so good, make me feel all right She come round my street, now She come to my house and Knock upon my door Climbing up my stairs, one, two Come on baby Here she is in my room, oh boy Hey what's your name? How old are you? Where'd you go to school? Aha, yeah Aha, yeah Ah, ah yeah, ah yeah Oh aha, mmm ...... ....,

As the saying goes, "Life is short and desires are endless," I believe that maybe Jim Morrison is still aspiring for music and fulfilling his dreams. Through Jim's stage, I became interested in the invisible world. He was not just an attractive artist, but a wizard who broke the boundaries between life and death and connected the new world. His songs, which project a lot of religious significance and magic, are very ironic. Sometimes you might say that his stage is aggressive and violent, but inside Jim Morrison's songs are peaceful and comforting.

About twenty years ago, I spent a few days listening only to Dylan and the Doors, and I realized how much more love there is in Jim's lyrics than in Dylan's. This is interesting. I suspect Dylan would have jettisoned the destructive Pam Courson pretty early on. Jim, on the other hand, though as unfaithful to Pam as she was to him, was a romantic.

People believe cardiac arrest is the cause of Jim Morrison's death, but more accurately, he is believed to have died of heart valve disease after contracting the drug-induced virus in a state of no antibody resistance in the body, or having a pathogenic immune system.

Excellent documentary. The guys "... in dark clothes " that took him out of the club were hired. The woman that was there is unafraid to speak after all these years. Jim screwed up, and was a mess at that point anyway. The truth comes out after many years as most people have passed on. It was announced on the scoreboard at Shea Stadium during the Humble Pie/Grand Funk Railroad concert in NYC in between acts. A hush came over the crowd. A sad ending to a brilliant poet/ performer. It happens everyday with Fentanyl to people now. But they're not famous. Some don't even know they're taking it. But their friends and family do afterward.😔

The more details I get I don't like Pamela. She was there in Paris pursuing her love interest shooting smack with him on Jim's dime. That's where her idea to go to Paris came from. Jim probably knew but didn't make too much about it. When he got mad at Pamela he just probably thought she is just one of many and nothing really to get upset about. When the time came she could be replaced. She knew it too. He loved her though. Had he lived their relationship would have been over before mid decade.

@@angelasanchez4413 yes. Unfortunately he was an emotional defendant of Pam. You don't need drugs for that but for Jim it was one of the reasons for that dependency and Pam took advantage of it where she could. It was Jim's weakness and she exploited it. Look at myself at that age. I didn't have the confidence in myself or in my communication like Jim had. But I wasn't on drugs and emotionally dependent on someone else. Had some weaknesses and faults at that age. All of us do. Part of being human. How they differ is some can be fatal. Unfortunately for Jim his weaknesses at his young age proved to be fatal.
