Well... I started to make music 2 years ago as one of my many hobbies. I have watched tons of videos, tutorials, and workshops. The way you explain things is just amazing. I learned a lot in this video. What you showed here is right on spot for me!!! Thank you very much for the effort! I want you to know that although there are not tons of views on your videos for some people like me it is a life changer! Videos like this helping for some of us to make one more stem on the long ladder. I am sending the best energies from me to you and to all your family.

Kudos! As an old-fart, old-school (with newer gear) synth-head, I am blown away by your presentation skills. You have explained concepts to me, that, although somewhat familiar, I never really "got". I have completed the video. Thumbs-Up and prescribed. I have been working with virtual synthesis for a long time. Becoz I love the sound of Berlin School. This is the first time I have ever been able to make a Berlin School sound. Amazing. Thank you Synth Seeker.

Thanks a lot for all these Berlin School videos. This is exactly what I was looking for yesterday when I started searching on KZfaq. When I found your channel, I was like Ali Baba when he entered on the cave of the 40 thieves. I didn't know where to start. So these 2 videos was my starting point. I have no idea how much progress you made me do with these video. I'm a huge fan of Tangerin Dream, Vangelis, Klauss Schulze and so, and also of Stellardrone. I leaned a lot about Ableton, its "vanilla" tools and also the harmonic structures of Berlin School style. So many thanks for that, Luke. You have a real talent to explain things with simplicity. Gonna continue to watch the related videos on your channel ^^

@@synthseeker I'm back again! Hav'in gone nuts have tried to get the Analog synth, set up as directed here and without your prompt. Well, I failed, so am going to set it up again. I will watch your video and continue, to learn. Interestingly, analog in England is spelled with a 'ue' at the end. Giving analogue. However, I find in England, that in the world of electronics, analog spelling has been largely accepted. Thank you for replying, it makes the experience of learning 'Berlin School', real and engaging. Thank you for going that extra mile.

Great channel sir, brilliant teacher so inspirational, just ordered an analogue synth with an arpeggiator can’t wait to give it a go when it arrives... been using midi since the days of the Tascam porta studios and stein berg Pro 24, actually even using an old Amstrad pcw 8512 loved it but something about this looser Berlin school just seems more real, thanks for the inspiration pal

I just finished watching this video :) Had 2 hours of pure fun translating everything you make onto my Vermona Perfourmer. If you are making notes for your next video ideas, it will be lovely if you could make some short 1.5-2min track using only one hard synthesizer. A track with 4-5 layers like you did here. Please keep it up with wherever videos you make... Have an amazing day Mister!

Sure! I try to do both hardware and software (or alternate) but keep it generalized enough so that you can get something useful regardless of your tools/instruments. I'm working on the next video this week and I'll see if I can get it out in a few days. :) Thanks for the feedback!

I am learning about the synthesis of the analogue also Ableton. Have in the past always favored Cubase. Yet, Ableton and Cubase together really complement each other. Great Lessons Synth Seeker.

hehe going over your Vids again: "In ableton you can just pull in an analog..." Seems that the "Analog" Synth has to be purchased. At least it's not a part of my ableton standard. But no issue, it will work with other synths too (Pigments, Hive, Serum). For eg. VITAL is a great free Synth plugin. The procedure is the same: Combine two Saws, add Filters, add Effects, but of course the steps are not exactly the same. Which is actually great, one needs to make oneself familiar with ones instrument. ;) Also: i was always playing with 8 Step sequencing, but in the pluck example, there are just 6 steps. Due to the echo it sounds like more.

What is the vst synth plugin did you use and what is the name of the pad you are playing the notes. Also what is the DAW your using for this explination

Everything is stock Ableton plugins except for the reverb which is Blackhole from ValhallaDSP. If by pad you mean the melody, it’s just Ableton’s analog synth device. I break it down in the video. :)

Love this, but I cannot get Glide to work. I've set Analog to Mono, and I think I have all other settings as they should be, but to no avail. What could I be missing? :)

just click on "glide" to activate it -- it's not linked to another setting, even you would put off both oscillators, you can still activate glide

Hi Synth Seeker. I have found that, if I try and open two Analog synthesizers, only one will work? why can't I use both?

@@synthseeker Yes I do. Yet, it's not a problem at the moment. I am not good with Ableton, despite having the DAW since Live 8. I will not worry about this. Thank you for your reply. I must say, I have come back to this video every day since my first comment. It has become my way forward and my educational pathway. Becoz there are so many more posts of yours, which cover issues I am not aware of / things to learn.

@@clivecarter2833 "arming" has nothing to do with "working" --> via "arming" you just record-enable a track's clips --- I guess you are using hardware, and, then, e.g. a midi controller, you have to arm your track to "hear" the instrument on that specific armed track, was that your 'found reason' ?
