Gayle from BERNINA of Naperville demonstrates how to use decorative stitches on your BERNINA 4, 5 and 7 Series machines. In the video she uses the extremely decorative stitch rich BERNINA 570 Quilter's Edition. These stitches can also be found on the BERNINA 590, 790 and 880 machines.Stitch out cute little tassles, an evergreen tree, angel wings, reindeer and more!

Loved watching how you made all the awesome decorative stitches. Just got a Bernina 590 yesterday. Your videos inspire me to get in there and start stitches even though I'm a beginner and a little intimidated by my new machine.

I am getting "acquainted" my B570 QE. I just took an initial class from the dealer and this particular video is reinforcing what I learned; and taking it to a new level! For example, the tassel stitch; the box; using the information icon. Exactly what I need....I will be looking up more of your videos. Thank you!

I own the 580 Bernina. Why is that not included?

The BERNINA 580 is not in the current BERNINA line. However this video will give you enough INFO to apply to your B 580

I have the 560. What is the difference between 560 & 570

There are several differences. A lot of different stitches on the BERNINA 570 QE. The main difference is that the B 570 QE has dual feed. We didn't cover that in the video, but it allows you to feed the material from the top as well as the bottom. The B 570 also has electronic foot recognition, programmable presser foot pressure, programmable function buttons and foot control . Physically the B 570 QE is a bit larger as well.

OH and I falied to mention that the B 570 QE has the BERNINA Jumbo bobbin which holds 70% more thread than your B 560.

OK so I'm nearly done making my stitch book. I'm asking myself...and you...are there specific uses for some of the stitches? If I buy the Big Book of Stitches, will all become clear?

It’s a creative thing. What would you do with the stitches? On some newer models, if you touch the question mark on the machine and then touch the stitch you’re curious about, the machine will tell you if there’s a practical application. Otherwise your imagination is your only limitation.

Hi. Thank you for your comment. The B 700 is strictly embroidery with a hoop only, so there are no decorative stitches in that machine to do this technique

You can stitch on whatever type of fabric you want. Remember to use stabilizer that you can remove without harming the sheen of your fabric, or pulling it to distort; and use a needle that is appropriate for the weight of your thread and the type of fabric.

Is the stitch plate correct for a zig zag or a straight stitch?

@@donnac5201 I don’t understand you question. But if you are trying to do a zig zag or decorative stitch, you make sure that your 9mm needle plate is selected in the security program and that the 9mm needle plate is actually on your machine.

It is difficult to see the stitches in variegated thread on the darker fabric, maybe you could use lighter fabric and dark color thread next time. Thank you.
