Beautiful Dogs convinced me that Shane cares deeply about the things he jokes about. He’s kind, compassionate, and empathetic. His ability to put himself in the shoes of the people around him is precisely why so many folks take his jokes so well. Because he’s laughing with you, not at you. @@ratmilk9260 "He likes what I like that means he's cool" The reality of the situation is more likely the guy thinking: "He likes what I like, so he's probably my type of comedian". You are just twisting the narrative and implying that is isn't OK to like a comedian based on shared preference of comics. It's a completely valid reason to like/start getting into a comics work unless they have done something else that you view as unforgivable, which Sam Hyde clearly hasn't for this guy. It's like saying you shouldn't find friends based of mutual interests. What am I supposed to go off then? Discussing mutual interests is a huge part of social interaction as a whole, which to a minor degree includes watching videos believe it or not. tl;dr - Stop giving social advice when you are clearly autistic or something. You don't know what you are talking about.

The funniest part to me is that he didn’t even tell a joke or preface it in a joke format. His response to them politely requesting a joke was “yeah when I was 22 years old I got involved with the Russian mafia….. how’s that?” he just told them the basic premise of a story of his- there’s no joke in there And the kid innocently saying “um I don’t really get it” is very fair cause Bert didn’t even say anything remotely close to a joke and the kid was genuinely just confused and Bert seems like he thinks the kid is dumb for recognizing a guy who he probably did see on KZfaq. And everyone hated Mencia, he just got the credit because of the video that he released of Bobby Lee after telling Bobby he wouldn't make it public. Joe isn't funny. He somehow managed to make the podcast thing work at the best time after stealing Marc Maron's format with more money to make a studio and advertise. Joe was born into a great situation and parlayed it into a better situation. I respect his business acumen, but he hasn't done shit for comedy. He has brought such great treasures as Tom Segura, Bert Kreisher, Brendan Schaub, Bryan Callen, Andrew Schultz, the list goes on. He sucks and what has done to comedy sucks. Tom is funny at least, but all of them are entitled cocksuckers that don't get a joke. That's why nobody likes him that is a real fan of comedy. The fun thing is that this isn’t theory, Bert goes in public and knows exactly the reactions he gets and from whom. Outside of the doofy sheep that go to his shows for some reason, there’s no sense of celebrity there. He’s pretending, as always, and he knows he’s pretending, and he knows he’s pretending because he *has* to pretend. Deep down under it all, he knows, and it makes him sad, and that’s a beautiful thing to remember and hold on to when you watch him say stuff like this. The man can’t even laugh without having to fake it for attention. He has to pretend to laugh. This is why he can’t put alcohol down. Would you be able to, if you were Bert, a comic who has to fake his own laughter, trying to make other people laugh?

Been a fan of MSSP since 2017 and Shane just keeps delivering. The 6 hour conversation with Louis CK about every single US president is likely the greatest achievement in podcast history.

Shane is just naturally funny. Burt is just a guy who can tell stories, but rarely do I laugh. He's like the guy everyone wanted to party with in college because he was crazy and knew how to have a good time.

If you look into Bert's past that is EXACTLY the guy he is - the film 'Van Wilder' was based on Bert when Bert was a party animal at College. Look up the backstory and you'll find the magazine article written about Bert at the time.

There's something to be said about the fact that the more accessible Shane becomes (his relationship dynamic with McCusker, Phil, his Mom, his sister, etc.) the more we like him and see his authenticity. The more we see of Bert and his relationship dynamic with his wife and kids the more we feel bad for them and loathe him for his absolute inability to think of anyone but himself. To add, we see the way they have grown and developed with mutual friends, ie, Mark Normand, Theo, and we can all see what effect each of them has on those guys and Bert makes everyone who is even remotely grounded and real, totally uncomfortable. Or he becomes such an easy target he demands that they go against their own authenticity in NOT ripping on him in this sort of coerced way in which they're forced to protect Bert from himself and their own insults just because Bert moves with an air of almost threatening fame currency. Dude just brings people down lol. Great analysis and great vid! Gotta sub from me!

Yea. I saw an old clip of Bert on a podcast literally crying about how much of an absent father he's been. And most of the comments were "Oh, he's such a good dad, he loves his kids so much!". I was like "are we listening to the same thing?" He's sold his soul to be in the cool kids club. He has millions. He could quit right now and not be an absent father... but getting to go to the cool kid parties, and be a raging alcoholic, is more important than being there for his kids. I get if someone has to work 60 hours per week to support their family, and doesn't get to see their kids as much. That's a father sacrificing to provide. But when you have millions, and you continue to do it anyway... Now you're just putting more money/influence/partying or whatever "benefit" you get from it over your family.

@@MansterBear 100%. And I know anyone of us can hear his sloppy voice in our imagination trying to tell his wife (whom he throws under the bus constantly!) or his kids how "he has to do these things, that he's selling a lifestyle , etc." and he's totally the kind of guy who does something nice for someone knowing he can utilize it later to throw in their face. That's kind of the vibe I get between him and Segura with their over the top expensive gifts. They're both kind of buying future leverage on the other for when they may find themselves in need of exploiting the relationship and the other might not feel like playing ball anymore. Who knows, maybe I'm wrong and we're all just a bunch a%%holes debating the lives of millionaires, but hey, it's Wednesday morning and I'm bored waiting for the train to come, so what the Hell lol.
