What I like is to here factory cars being reviewed by professional race car drivers. Most of these cars are within the "average" person's budget for a car and they treat it with the same amount of respect as a Ferrari. Most other reviewers in the states turn their nose to cars in the sub $40k range.
*this is the very best car review channel ever in youtube. no bs. no fancy narration with b-roll cutscene and annoying bgm. this is how a car review channel should be like. best in testing with real drivers and no bias reaction. i love you Best Motoring!!! Sugoi!!!*

I would recommend you Davide Cironi's channel, if you're interested in oldschool Euro-cars. He drives some very nice cars and knows his facts.

I was a little surprised that an aftermarket intake and exhaust only gained 12hp over stock? And no raising boost to compete with the merc? I do respect the tuner's overall restraint vs throwing tons of boost at it and sacrificing drivability/reliability

@@jeremyb4493 The EJ engine actually has always had a pretty well designed intake system (airbox placement and piping), aftermarket intakes, especially cheaper ones, really doesn't give that much better air compared to stock. The other thing is, the EJ doesn't lack air, it lacks fuel. Intake + Exhaust, even bigger turbo or higher boost will only get more air into the system, but it's always had enough air, the bottleneck was the fuel. The stock injectors are like 600 cc, unless you upgrade them to 1050s, there's near no point in increasing air. People like to mod the intake first for the sound, but performance-wise, the intake is one of the last things to mod if you own an EJ. But at the end of the day, I think it's a win for the STI. The STI with minimal mods and a tune was able to somewhat keep up with a car that's more than doubles its price and a whole 100 bhp more. Imagine just putting a tiny bit more money into the STI making it a similar power range, the STI may actually have a chance. The AMG is obviously still going to be a better car (you're freaking out less because it handles better and gives the driver more information), but performance-wise it looks like it can be real close.
It's a bit different in terms of class, weight and displacement since this match is specifically about 4wd turbos that run 2l 4 bangers, but it's definitely one of the greats.

For a fun car I'd take the STI any day. I feel like the A45 would get boring very fast because there is nothing to learn in that car, you just get in and drive fast where as the STI takes some more skill and driver engagement which is the fun part imo.
Both cars have their own advantages. I think more advanced drivers would take WRX because its harder to drive fast.

I think it can in certain circumstances. When I go for spirited drives I appreciate that I can hold the gear I want some ATs want to up shift. I also just love the mechanical feeling

@@philspaghet The JDM STI revs up to 8k like you can see on the tach in the vid. USDM STI only revs up to 6700. There are some pretty big differences. JDM STI is a 2.0 L engine (EJ207), USDM is a 2.5 L engine (EJ257). The cylinder walls on the 2.5 L is thinner, so while it naturally has more displacement, the 2.0 L is able to hold a lot more pressure. So, for example, if you're modding above 400 WHP, the 2.5L will cease to be reliable at around 400 WHP while the 2.0 L will remain intact till 450 WHP. The other thing is the headers. The EJ207 uses equal length headers so most of the "subbie rumble" is gone. As you can see from the exhaust sound from this vid, save for some barely noticeable differences from being a Boxer engine, the JDM EJ207 sounds like a Civic. Though with equal length headers, the car is a lot more efficient and breathes a lot better, allowing for easier tuning and modding compared to the rumbly "better sounding" USDM EJ257 STI. So there's goods and bads on both JDM and USDM, beauty based on the eyes of the beholder I guess :p
