This is one of the best video I've had the privilege to shoot. Jason Rose and Kevin Brown are MASTERS of detailing and I learned an incredible amount of techniques and procedures for wet sanding during this trip and I hope the video (part I. II. and III.) gives you a strong understanding of how to safely wetsand your paint. Thank you Jason and Kevin for all your knowledge! -Larry

Larry, great video I actually just had a conversation with a client of mine last month on this exact same topic on the same mustang body style aka fox body which is why I thought it would be worth sharing this with you. He asked if there was an additional step past doing a 3 Step correction and I told him yes, but that I hadn't invested in a 3M or Mirka palm sander yet, even though I have a compressor. So as of now a 3 Step is the furthest level of correction I could offer him. In the end he was extremely happy with the results. I just got done correcting his 1993 Black Mustang Cobra being that it only has 1K on the ODO and wanted to show it, he requested I do a 3 step correction on it. My approach was Menzerna FG400 using various Uber cutting pads microfiber pads for the first step, the second step I used FG400 again but with Uber orange and green polishing pads, the final step I went with Menzerna PO85RD aka SF4500 with uber blue pads using the Rupes LHR15ES and the Griots 3" DA. LSP used was Menzerna Powerlock. I am going to see this one and his other two Mustang Cobras that I already corrected for him again to apply Opticoat V2 on them since he wants to preserve them as long as he can. Here is the link to my write up on SVTP I also have it on Detailing Bliss if your a member on there, if you have time take a look. www.svtperformance.com/forums/showthread.php?1004406-1993-Black-Cobra-3-Step-Correction www.detailingbliss.com/topic/28992-1993-ford-mustang-cobra-3-step-correction/

This is a great video. I have been trying to fix stone chips and a few deep scratches on my Pearl, metallic red car and I have actually when sanding back the touch up coats have accidentally over sanded and burnt through both the clear and base coat. This really shows how to correct uneven paint to a show quality. Any videos on fixing stone chips/deep scratches and the sanding/polishing to match original paint????

LARRY, great video as usual :-) i have a question about the speed of the sander machine. I have an electrical Mirka 5056cv and the trm is about 4 to 10'000 rpm. I don't know which speed is the more effective so i sand about 7'000 rpm. Do you thing it's good ?

Hi I have used 1 stage paint from Upol (3 coats of colour and 3 of clear). It got cooler (down to the low 60s or high 50s during the process and now I have some overspray to remove. I have a few questions: Given the temperature, how long should I wait to wet sand? I have 3000 grit paper, what would you suggest or is the 3000 paper enough? Should I clay bar or use a cutting compound. This is a street car that I am going to sell and right now, other than the dullness of the overspray the paint looks pretty good. I would appreciate any assistance. I am an amateur and this is my first trip into auto painting. Thanks Ron from Vancouver BC, Canada

First. Congrats on your channel. Very pro, straight to the point and great explanations. Sorry for the stupid question, but looking to your scratch diagram (base, coat, clear layer scheme), wouldn't be possible for scratches that get to base, backfill first with paint, before wetsanding to level up surface and then polishing?

Does the palm sander he's using have variable speeds, or is it all controlled by the pressure he applies? I bought one that apparently only has an on/off switch. Is there a reason the cutter compound and polish couldn't also be applied with the sander using the right applicator pads?

How do you determine when water spots cannot be corrected ? I have a gloss Black 2006 C6 with nasty water spots on hood and rear hatch. I used some chemical guys v32 compund with orange pad on a small 12 inch by 12 inch section with a dual action with 3 sessions of polishing. I would say it made almost little to no difference on the water spots !
