Especially considering that I'm so far more interested in the upcoming gigabyte 4k 240hz 32" OLED rather than the Asus one. Because the Gigabyte monitor has similar specs like Asus, BUT Displayport 2.1 UHBR20 ! So as soon as nvidia gives us GPUs with 2.1 UHBR20 as well, we can disable DSC and keep that 4k 240hz

Meh. I really don't understand why anyone wants 4k on a 32" 16:9. Not now. Not in the future. Resolution is largely wasted, particularly in games. I'd take a VA Ultrawide over this.

Thank you for the quality content, Tim! Spend a good few months agonizing over what to get to replace an old 4k 28" 60fps Asus that served me decently for both work and gaming for over 5y, before pulling the trigger on a Samsung Neo G7 based on your reviews. Got lucky with a flash sale that allowed me to snap it up for just 550€ (tax included), and I've been very happy with it for the past two months. Thanks again! 😀

From the UK here. I previously had the Gigabyte m28u, which i had bought for £530, it was a good monitor but had alot of inverse ghosting, which was quite annoying while playing cod:warzone. It also had a dead pixel, luckily i noticed it and was able to return it as it was within it's 14 day returns period. I now have the LG 27GR93U - literally perfect monitor for the price of £420 from amazon. Monitor seems to have less inverse ghosting( i haven't really noticed it). Thanks to Monitors Unboxed, for having provided the videos in respective to these monitors and helping me make my purchase decisions. Additional note: LG seems to have better warranty support in the UK than Gigabyte, it's also 2 years.

As always - very informative and with both number-crunching as well as empirical data to back it up - another nice presentation. If I would add anything, it would be that you display brand and model on the screen as you talk about it. I would love to buy a new OLED gaming display... But Win11 keep turning off my screensaver and I am still to find a good workaround for this. And since my screens can be on for hours when I go AFK with menus and websites on them - so I still fear burn-ins. 😞

The 32” Samsung g70b is pretty solid as well for an SDR option depending on price. I got one for $500 about a year ago (rtings reviewed it well) while I waited for better true HDR options and I’ve been happy with it. Not sure what they sell for worldwide but might be worth reviewing to give folks another 32” 4k option. Color accuracy is good, motion clarity is good and brightness is solid. The LG mentioned here was $1000+ at the time which was way too much

$1300 can get you an upper midrange PC, these monitors are still nowhere near accessible to the general public as of right now. Maybe in 3-5 years when the prices has halved will it be reasonable for many buyers.
@MrM-dl5zm
@MrM-dl5zm Ай бұрын
$1300 monitor is not for general audience, 4K gaming is very niche and "luxurious" option that only few can do. Even if the monitors were for $100 you still need high end PC to push the 4K resolution at high frame rates at high details. RTX4090 that costs more than these top end qd oled monitors will push less than 30 fps for example in alan wake 2 or cyberpunk at 4K HDR raytracing max details.

I had my Odyssey neo g7 for about a month now and it's great. I had it for 650 in UK (british pounds) so a really good deal. The curvature doesn't bother me at all for programming and it's good for gaming. I was on a curved screen 1500R before though so I might've adapted. The problem my unit has is the dark level "flickering" or "smearing" when on lower refresh rates (at or below 60hz). Can be mitigated by lowering the strain on GPU to generate more frames or use VRR control but allegedly it introduces microstuttering (I did not properly test it). The other problem I see is with the local dimming zones - white text on black background is not too bright and the white background on the other part of the screen is insanely bright. This limits the usage of black themes in text editors or when browsing. Can be mitigated by using gray or non-black backgrounds. Overall I'm happy and I'll stick with it until it die - had 1080p screen for over 5 years and if not for my programming work I wouldn't change it for sure, but 4k for coding is just so much better.
@davidcadley1513
@davidcadley1513 Ай бұрын
I’ve just got a neo g7 too. I’ve had some issues with flickering, mostly caused by dual monitor setup and lame nvidia Linux drivers. But horizon forbidden west with a 60fps target seemed to exhibit legitimate panel flicker. Turning the refresh rate to the 120hz mode seems to have fixed it completely though.

Do hope to see a 1440p video soon though, still trying to decide on one (non oled) cause i play a lot of “big hud” of screen games. (Mmorpg) edit: returned the lg c3. @@jfleysh i learned why and returned mine, its horrible for games, it has super aggressive abl and flashes in like a strobing effect for fast scenes with bright elements, an example is gran turismo. Driving over a curb thats red and white or if you have braking zones enabled causes the screen to flicker rapidly which is headache inducing. Theres no way to disable this either. It also looks bad in bright scenes cause if dims so heavily.

So i want to buy an Gaming Monitor for well Gaming 21 by 9 Aspect ratio 34 inch or a little bigger 3440*1440p. Should i Buy the Philips 8000 or the Samsung G8? I´ll wait like another Month or is there something else on the Market that would be better? Oled sounds really good and the low reaction time should be really cool and the good Blacks sounds awesome. Im in the EU Germany and i have up to 900€ to spend.

I'm not ready to go OLED. Too much cash for a display that is prone to burn-in, and I'm not convinced any of the manufacturers have solved it. Full HDR looks over-saturated to me, so I don't use it. Since late 2022 I've had a Gigabyte M32U on my main gaming PC, and I'm very happy with it.

Oled is better, but if your budget and needs aren't that high then Micro LED and IPS are both great options.

Would be very helpful to include what inputs are recommended to get the best out of these monitors. For example, a large number of ps5 users would be more focused on picture quality than refresh rate as they are hardware capped at 120hz. Would a standard ps5 perform on some of these monitors. Or if PC based... what would be a general guide line of system specs to reach close the desired refresh rate/performance etc. Not every one is running out and buying the latest gpu so real world comparison scenarios would go a long way. For example I run a decent system with a 3080 card etc, but as i'm more of an FPS player i opted for a high refresh rate 1440p monitor. On the other hand my girl plays ps5 and wants good picture quality in open world type non shooter games.

I always look at the Neo monitors and think "This would be so good if it was a flat screen." Even pushing the curve back to 1500-1800R would be a great start.

The Dell G3223Q is another good 32" 2160p 144 Hz SDR option. And as much as Tim hates curved panels, on a VA monitor, you need a curve. Otherwise, you'll see gamma and color shift at the edges, even when directly in front of the monitor.

After going through 7 other monitors, I decided to save a few extra dimes and went with G7 Neo. And my oh my, I must day that I have never encountered a monitor with such a quality of display. And it's not oled so absolutely nothing to worry about the typical burn-ins and the brightness is freaking crazy. It can literally blind you at night. Of course, Samsung being Samsung, it had a few minuses but that's like practically every monitor that won't make you totally broke. If you can get it in a cheap price, you won't be disappointed, I think. I got mine for around $840 so it wasn't this bad, taking into the account that I use it both for gaming and work - around 10 hours a day on average.

These new Oled monitors are good, I’m on a 32 60hz ips 4k monitor and to be honest I’m ready to go up to 42 as 4k is made for larger panels. The Lg C4 should have featured a Display Port connection as 90% of the buyers are pc gamers like myself.

Dell Alienware AW3225QF for me (UK) based is the only sensible option for 4K OLED, it's coming in between £300-400 cheaper than the ASUS (ROG), MSI and LG offerings, with that type of saving it's a total no-brainer, even with the curved screen.
