I’ve been to Japan three times without buying any skincare, because I hadn’t discovered this world yet. Next time I’m definitely doing some shopping!

the nostalgia of the softymo speedy/hada labo/chifure products for me 😂 used to swear by them until maybe my late 20s?? though i still use the sana soymilk products from time to time! also those single use face wash powders are great for making a bubble pack with one of those foaming nets?? find that just mixing them in your hands just doesn’t do The Job 🤔 also agree about great for travel!! honestly wish more things came in mini sizes too just for that🥲

Lucy, you convinced me on the Kiss Me Mommy, I need a good sunscreen that doesn't smell like dog on drydown, so gels are best :)

YES THE KOSE SOFTYMO!! I favour the Deep version for my unfathomably oily face but I’ve used the Speedy - it would be my next choice if my precious Deep isn’t available! The White version is just eh. SO pumped you can just ✨buy them at Daiso✨ now!

i know it's available on the US sephora, not sure about Australia's, but maybe try damdam? I repurchased the mochi mochi moisturizer and started trying their cleansing oil recently so i'm curious what you would think about them!

I've tried most of those Hada Labo products and they're all great. It's a reliable brand IMO. One tip for the premium 'lotion' that might be helpful for some people is to apply it on damp skin, so the hyaluronic acid has plenty of moisture to work with. I know some people like to apply it to their hair after taking a shower as well. As a redhead in a hot climate the Canmake mermaid sunscreen is my favorite. The texture really is like a nice gel that absorbs well, so I imagine it would suit a lot of skin types and even people who don't typically like the feel of sunscreen.

Thanks for mentioning that "whitening" means "brightening". For an instant I panicked as at one point there were actual whitening products which turned out to be not conducive to good health (without getting too specific). The UV gel in the teddy bear pump format is adorable to look at. I agree that many cream/gel products would be more convenient in tube format. Maybe there is an environmental reason regarding making those tubes?
@LucyLivinYT
@LucyLivinYT Жыл бұрын
Yeah there are definitely whitening products out there that have some dubious ingredients and objectives, but a lot if not most of J-Beauty 'whitening' doesn't actually "whiten" in like, the questionable dangerous way - just brighten! The marketing is still maybe questionable but it's a big topic to dive into 🫠

I've bought the DHC chapstick. I liked the formula, but I didn't think the cost vs amount of product was worth it, for that reason alone I won't repurchase. It was like $7 +shipping and only lasted like a month of consistent 2x-3x daily wear.

Can you please elaborate about how the Australian sunscreen guidelines are relevant to your skincare review?
@mollyapteros

' “Australia has one of the highest rates of skin cancer in the world, so the Australian government has the strictest requirements for sunscreen,” explains Wong, who hails from Sydney. “It's regulated as a therapeutic good (ergo a drug), which means the manufacturing requirements are higher. Australia also uses the same definition of ‘broad spectrum’ as the EU, which is stricter than the definition used in the US.” ‘Broad-spectrum’ means it shield from both wavelengths of UV light; UVA and UVB. Wong also explains that: “Additionally, Australia uses the same definition of ‘water resistant’ as the US, which is stricter than the definition used in the EU” - after exposure to water for the labelled period, the sunscreen's SPF has to remain at the labelled number. “In the EU it can drop to half,” she confirms. '

I hate tubes. 😅 Something being in a tube does actively stop me from buying it. They're harder to store because my bathroom is tiny and I cannot put them atop of each other and it's harder to get everything out. You always have to cut them open, what first is always kinda messy and second, does not make it easier to store. So no, please no tubes.

Do you ever check the ingredients before recommending? I was going to order the Melty Cream lip balms w/ my last Stylevana order but someone in their reviews said they ordered it and then they Googled the ingredients and read that some of them were carcinogenic😮
@LucyLivinYT
@LucyLivinYT Жыл бұрын
Hi Kristine, I do - but everyone has different levels of comfort regarding what they put in/on their body! There's been a resurgence of discussion online around "toxic" ingredients which I personally feel is fear-mongering - many ingredients in large amounts (even ones good for us eg vitamin C) can be dangerous at certain levels of consumption that we're not hitting through these formulas. So for me personally I don't have any issues recommending something but as a consumer I do feel it's always important to me to check for things I individually care about (eg ingredients I'm personally allergic to) - so if it's of concern to you, then that's totally fine. Hope that makes sense 😊
