Don't generalize. Very, very good point. I once received two tickets to a hockey game as a reward. I couldn't care less about sports, so I sold them online ... and then got chewed out by the Director. "If you didn't want them, you should have given them to someone else." No, you shouldn't have assumed everyone is a sports fanatic.

Completely agree with that. I'm more of a basketball person over hockey, so I would have done the same thing lol

Instead of my $6000 bonus at my forner employer, one year we received a put-it-together home office. Still sitting unopened 3 years later in the garage.

We have no award or recognition program at my job. It’s really sad.

The lucky carrot thing.... My employer has started using a similar app. It's a nice gesture and an easy way to give "rewards" to employees. It is pretty lazy though imo I won't sign up. I don't do social media in general. I don't want another app, password, notifications, anything job related to do on MY time. Also, it's passing the responsibility to the employees to dish it out between themselves. Not the boss/manager/etc formally thanking said employee. If the employer/managers actually care I would prefer a face to face thanks and just hand me a monetary reward if that is in the cards. Also,. Listen to my ideas and ACTUALLY follow through on implementing some of them. Also realize that your best workers are being overburdened and lightening the load is preferred over some app and continuing to overburden them.

Forgot to mention this. This can turn into a social popularity program. The employees I hear being the most involved with the app and getting fun out of it tend to be female, and the social types that also tend to spend more time chitchatting/wandering around than working. That is not to say that there aren't plenty of great female employees busting it! Just saying that the better employees seem to just want to do a good job at there job and that's all.
